The wifi is now free at the high speed, breakfast not really good, no much selection of fruits and you get charged for eggs. The rooms are small and the walls are dirty, they need proper cleaning. The staff was very friendly though. The windows are too old and need to be changed.

The Paysandu is a bit - quite a bit - worn around the edges: the windows need to be changed and the the rooms repainted, but it is not without a certain retro charm. Lobby and common spaces are vintage (i.e. haven't been remodeled since the 50s). Location fairly good, right between downtown and the southern beaches. Staff generally friendly...

Staff was very friendly but room was a little outdated and muggy. Beach and main road with public transport was close. There are shops around, street was ok. Breakfast is abundant with loads of fruits and all sorts.

Finding a cheap decent hotel in Rio is tricky, we picked this place as was quite central and got a good deal. And overall it was a pretty decent place. Receptionists (speak english) and the guys at the door are nice and friendly. Rooms are decent size, with an ok shower. TV too which for us English people does have...

The hotel is simple and a bit dingy. The staff is nice but unhelpful. The problem is that an entire homeless family lives near the entrance of the hotel. They lie there, they urinate and defecate there and they are rather aggressive. I asked the hotel staff manager (Jose I think..) why they do not do something about it and I...

The hotel is in the Flamengo area of Rio de Janeiro. The area is very pleasant and relatively safe. The room was OK. Nice lobby and very good breakfast. Staff helpful. Good communication by public transport. Metro station Largo do Chamado is a few minutes walk and the seaside road is even closer where buses can be found to all...

Run away !!!! It is such a bad bad bad hotel and from the dinosaurs edge ! It is so old, the rooms have an horrible smell, and it is just impossible to sleep with the noise of the conditioning air. But worst, the breakfast is far from being good and the personals are not sympathetic at all. We also...

I stayed here with a group tour. I thought that with a group tour and carnival on that the hotel would have planned for security. I ended up with a room mate that allowed two people that had purposefully not booked a hotel to sleep in the bathroom of the room. We woke up to surprise squatters in our bathroom...
