Average hotel suitable for short term (one or two night stay) in Rio de Janeiro. The rooms are simply furnished and entire cleanliness is adequate. The added values of the hotel are outdoor pool on the terrace (roof) and its location – approximately 10 to 15 minutes by walk from famous Copacabana.
Well, where to start. Maybe with the good things: - 10 minutes of walking to Copacabana (which is not the best beach in Rio, even not in top 3) - blonde lady on the reception, as she tries to be polite and speaks English well (the only one from all the staff). Also the old men opening the door is sympathic. ... That's about the good things. Really. Now the bad thing. I will try to make it short: - mold in the rooms. Really. For a 4* hotel this something you wouldn't expect. A lot of mold, see my photos for one example of the mold. It's health dangerous and I think Brasilian health office should look at this. - it's really noisy, as it's close to a tunnel on a main road and the windows don't keep the noise outside. All the noise come in to the room and when I had a phone all I had to go to a hallway to hear the other side on the phone. That noisy it is. It's crazy! I have never been to such a noisy hotel. - one night around midnight guests in next room did make a very loud noise. Really loud. And because there are no proper walls between the rooms as there are just old and bad shaped door in the wall, we heard it all very easily. I went to a reception to do something with this but because the language barrier as they don't speak English, they didn't help. They though that I want to go out and keep my room key at the reception. WTF?? Crazy... - shower is a bad joke. It's dirty, old even for 80's and bad equipped. - rooms are really dirty. It's crazy. I found hairs on the bed under my pillow, but that's not the only thing. Also windows need to be cleaned (or rather changed for a more modern ones as the ones at here are reaaaally old) and there was dirt on the floor. - safe was closed without any instructions to open, no standard code worked. - sauna is a bad joke. I don't even want to write more about that. - breakfast looks nice at a first look, but it's not that good at all. Eggs are tottaly wrong, juices (except for orange juice) are just a colored water... - I could continue further. The hotel is totally wrong and is maybe the worst one I have ever been to. In 2019 it was more than 40 hotels in total, in my life it is already more than 200 hotels and this one is reaaaally bad. We were supposed to spend there four nights but we checked out after three as it was really bad. As it was prepaid, I will not get my money back, but I actually didn't care as we just wanted to get out from this house of horror. That bad I was. Maybe even worse. Really, avoid this hotel at any cost! …
I stayed for 2 nights in this hotel. Friendly staff, good food ( breakfast and diner). Clean room, good space. Bar is not so much. Close to the copa cabana. Good place to stay when you want to discover Rio
Nice medium Classic hotel with stommigheid pool and very good breakfast. Near to the beach and the touristic places. Very helpful personnel and client-friendly. Clean rooms with large bathroom. And oh wonder : an hair-dryer!
Overall a great hotel, we stayed 4 nights. First few nights we were in a room with views of Christ the Redeemer which was awesome. Unfortunately during night #3 we were called by reception telling us our room had "insects" and we needed to move right away, so we were sent to another room. We did have a few bites on our arms, they were small, but caution on this. The breakfast is awesome, staff was helpful though, and rooftop pool was nice too. Location is great, not right on the beach but very close.
