Close to the old harbour and several attractions like musea, you can wander though the streets and have different views of the bay or an elevated church. Those churches are worth a visit because they are richly decorated in a baroque way.

It is a dated hotel, with tiny old rooms, with cheap linens and towels. I stayed there because it was a 5min drive to the hospital were I had a conference, but definitely was not a good choice. Ok to walk around during the day, although it is chaotic, but dangerous to do it during the night. Nice staff and...

I slept in this hotel for only one night. The structure is located in a very trafficated district, and not in a beautiful zone. The personell in the reception are good, they was very kind with me at any of my question. The rooms are with old furnishings, but everything is clean and in order. The restaurant personell also are...

Location is convenient at the center of the city, but the place will be in the center of traffic jam in the morning and evening. I had a late night flight back home but our limo couldn't make it on time due to bad traffic jam around 18:00. Also this place have a gym on top floor, but not enough...

We were directed to this hotel by the airline after our flight to São Paulo was canceled. The hotel is conveniently located 8min from the Santos Dumont airport at Downtown Rio. The property is dated however very clean. The prices for food and beverages are really absurd and quite shocking, not even 5 star properties charge this much ( prices...

I stayed in this hotel because it was a few minutes by walking from the office. I have already stayed in the hotels in UK, Chile, USA, etc. Some have nice amenities, coffee maker available in the room, Iron, bath tube, etc. In Windsor, supposed to be the same level, none of them. There were mosquitoes in the room and...

This was my first trip to Brazil and I'm glad that I had a good experience at the Windsor to kick things off on a good note. Although I only stayed for one night, I enjoyed the rooftop pool, the excellent (!) breakfast buffet, the really great water pressure in the shower (hey, that's important to me), the proximity to...

We stayed here one day prior to boarding a Cruise Ship. We selected this hotel for its proximity to the port--you can catch a tam by the hotel and take it a few stops around the corner to where you board the ship. We found the free breakfast buffet to be one of the best we have experienced. Lots of...

I've stayed at this hotel three times in Rio. It has very good rooms, easy access to metro, good food with a lot of variety, and is relatively cheap. The staff is very helpful. The rooftop pool has wonderful views of Guanabara Bay. The only downside is the rooms are a little older, and while the location is perfect for...

Neighbourhood Profile
Downtown Rio is the place where this city was born. With modern skyscrapers sharing space with historical buildings and landmarks, this neighbourhood is living proof that the old and the new can live together harmoniously. As you would expect, downtown is where all major companies house their offices. However, the region isn’t restricted to businesses. Gems such like the “Paço Imperial,” which is a cultural centre that used to serve as a residence for governors of Brazil, can be found here. Pedra do Sal, a Monday night street party, is also in this neighbourhood. This landmark is the birthplace of samba and is famous for its “roda de sambas” (“dance circles”). Stop in for one and get closer to discovering where Brazilian happiness comes from.
