Our first impressions of this hotel were very good , a very large & grand lobby, we thought we had made a great choice when booking this hotel. But on arriving at our rooms how dissapointed we were a find a room that looked more like a large closet than a double room. We had two large suitcases with us...

This is a modern 14 storey hotel just one block away from Copacabana beach. There are local shops for water etc within a few minutes walk of the hotel and an ATM just over the road at HSBC Bank. The hotel is clean and offers a good breakfast buffet. Staff seem friendly and helpful. The dinner buffet and a la...

This was one of the designated "conference" hotels so we stayed there with other participants. Otherwise Ipanema is the much better location. The room was spotless, breakfast was great and the staff very helpful. We enjoyed the good caipirinhas at the roof top bar. We booked through http://www.brazilianvacation.com and got better rates than the conference offered.

We had a great time at this hotel. The rooms were clean, the staff were friendly (although we did catch one of them just pretending to understand what we were saying when we spoke English). Many people have commented about the lack of net curtains, but I can only assume they didn't notice the windows are mirrored so you're pretty...

My husband and I travelled for business and were very satisfied with the professional staff, but the rooms are terrible. First of all, the rooms are extremely dim and we faced other windows. Since the curtains were black out curtains, natural light was at a minimum. secondly, the bedding and towels were pretty awful. Rough sheets, rough towels, no wash...

After one night I moved out of the Plaza. The aircon did not work well and the room was very hot and stuffy. To make matters worse, there were no non smoking rooms available. The twin beds were saggy and uncomfortable. The location is on a very busy road with no glimpse of the beach. On 3 separate occasions I...

If you just want a place to crash then this is the hotel for you. If you plan to spend time in your room working or relaxing - find something better and more comfortable. All the other reviews are correct so I won't repeat here. Nobody has mentioned the awful towels, thin and rough and no wash cloths. This is...

My girlfriend and I visited The Windsor Copacabana in August 2008 and have nothing but praise for this hotel. We were a bit worried about security before visiting Rio, however our fears were completely unfounded. The hotel is located in, what seemed, a safe area with security outside the hotel at all times. Staff were very pleasant, breakfast was excellent,...

A nice hotel in a good location. Receptionists very friendly and helpful and only minutes away from the famous beach( overated) Rooms were a little dark as they backed onto the centre of hotel but it was very comfortable and clean. Breakfasts were plentiful and there is a lovely rooftop bar and pool. In a very safe area with lots...

Staying in Copacabana

Neighbourhood Profile
Copacabana
The rowdy Copacabana is one of the most traditional and old areas from Rio de Janeiro. This neighbourhood is a blend of Brazilian soul - crowded, rowdy and traditional. This neighbourhood has a bit of everything: bars with music, pubs, street fairs, chaotic streets, and many shops. All these things and more live side-by-side. There are options for all price points and tastes. However, the most powerful draw in Copacabana is still the fantastic view of the coast and the incredible beaches.
