Don’t book this spot if you arrive before the check-in time.. my flight arrived at 9am, I sat in the lobby until 3pm (check-in time). Asked at 1pm/2:30pm/2:45pm if my room was ready, was told “check-in was at 3”. The staff knew who I was & that I just wanted my pre-paid room. After 3pm, I sat to see if they would call me, nope, waited until 3:15pm, walked up, didn’t ask any questions and they finally asked for my ID to give me my room. I’m a solo African American traveler, if you show up not looking like you can probably get your room faster. (Only because 3 other families checking in got their rooms within an hour, while I had to wait).
The hotel does not deserve a 4 star classification. The Hotel needs maintenance urgently. In our first bedroom our bad suddenly collapsed and the maintenance only came to fix it after asking many times to do this. We decided to change to other bedroom, where the hair dryer didn´t work! Buyng a 4 star hotel needs to mean a relly one.
Let me start by saying that the hotel staff was extremely friendly and these issues are not a reflection of them. The issues come down to the amenities outlined and how the property was advertised. My friend and I were there for both vacation and work. Pros: the staff, the breakfast bar, location Cons: everything else - WiFi did not work and good luck trying to get ANY WiFi in your room. If we needed to get Wifi in the middle of the night we had to go to the rooftop or lobby. Not good for anyone there on business as I had to move around several video calls and walk to another hotel for business services - I booked through AMEX - amenities such as sauna, spa services/availability, airport shuttle, WiFi, Fitness Center, wheelchair accessibility, smoke free, beach towels, soundproofed rooms, meeting rooms and golfing nearby were non-existent. - When we tried making reservations with the spa services, we found out that it is an external company who rents the space - the hotel did not have any idea of their schedule. Further, I took a photo of a massage package advertised on our floor, and the women told me I was lying and wanted me to ride the elevator to show her - after doing so, she said she would not honor it and tried to take the sign down. Despite that - I proceeded to try to book, and they requested payment upfront, then none of the credit card machines worked. - The photos of this place are beautiful - but when you see the property you see where improvements need to be made and how much they spent to make the photos look better. - The rooms were crazy loud and it was hard to sleep - from hearing babies screaming in the halls, the wind rustling at the door or just general noise from above and below - this is not a soundproof or restful space. - Lastly, the room keys never worked - we ended up with 6 because we kept having to get them recharged - entirely too sensitive. We got to the point where we would recharge them every-time we got back just in case. - The walls and ceilings in the rooms were cracking and breaking off For paying just a bit more - we could have stayed at the JW Marriott and have had the experience promised. I will praise the people/staff that were helpful but these issues need to be addressed by management if they want to be seen as the up and coming, boutique resort they aim to be.…
The kind welcome and professionalism of the reception , especially Manuela and Taisa , and there other colleges, besides room service staff worth mentioning. The room is wonderful and with all the thought details . Only suggesting more plugs for computer and charging and a note of the internal numbers at the telefone !
Starting with the pool: it s not a pool for guests, its an attempt to be a party place for private events. Because of that the pool is disgusting, full of trash and funny smell. Although the reception staff is GREAT, all others really try to avoid work - my minibar was leaking water into the room and only after i went to reception 3 times they sent someone on the following day. some furniture is outdated and needs to be fixed. The towels are very old but do the job.
1/3 of pool is covered with a plexiglass for dancing, the hotel has local night parties till 4 AM can you imagine what goes on you will never be able to sleep let alone the disgusting filth of the rooms. They use closet door as your bathroom door. Mold everywhere. Next morning the pool is so cloudy and disgusting that you cannot go swimming you can tell the chemicals are not balance.
This is the worst hotel on the Rio beach front. The rooms are dirty with cobweb hanging from the room. The gym is closed, with an alternative placed in a dark rom and with a non-functioning treadmill. The pool closes at 5:30, just as the roof-top could be a nice place to chill down and see the sunset. I ordered a room with a partial sea view. But, then a mirror should have been included. Stay away! I travel to Rio once a month, and know many great alternatives.
THIS IS NOT A ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Hotel !!!! This is a review based on my experience on a one night stopover. I wouldn’t stay a 2nd night even if they paid me!!!!! Multiple visits to copacabana… the worst 🤮 No bed side lighting Cheap spring mattress NO MATTRESS PROTECTOR STAINED BED LINEN AND NOT MATCHING FINGER PRINTS ALL OVER TV CHEAP LAMINATED FLOORING IN NEED OF REPLACING SAFE in TOP SHELF AND NOT SECURED / not Fixed to the wall - nearly fell on me Toilet seat - cheap plastic - not solid plastic- words cannot describe and not properly screwed either… outside toilet bowl nasty and dirty with original brand sticker?!!! No attention to detail. Tv with no clear image - poor signal. Very limited channels choice. Tv remote unsanitary - no protective disposable cover Old and tacky 1980’s land line phone… tired, dirty and old Balcony not big enough to sit outside but pleasant I guess? Small rooms - 2 people max 3 days!!! Looked tired and dirty (both rooms!) Very limited vegetarian options and no vegan options at all!!!! Plastic not tiled pool. Opening and closing times 9-5 ONLY! What?! Weird glass platform takes half of the pool size for swimming. Each platform glass sealed with blue tape… some visibly cracked Towels in black bins?!!! What?! Surely a small table with pool towels would suffice Sun loungers stained Lots of electrical cables everywhere with some exposed sockets. Really tired and needs refurbishment!!! ayia napa circa 2000 - 18’s to 30’s club holidays. The rooms and public spaces are in need of major refurbishment, lots of butchered jobs. Disgusting!!!! Staff looked tired, overworked and unkept at times. I booked a queen bed and got two twin beds joined together. Construction works being carried out. I was told was building next door which was a lie as i saw them “hammering” the room near by whilst walking pass. Was offered another room though and was giving earlier check in and late check out at no extra cost. However, they also would keep suit cases behind reception. The only positive experience! anyone can get access to lifts without room card. Not safe and unsettling. Great location ONLY Plastic not tiled pool. Opening and closing times 9-5 only…. What?! Weird glass platform takes half of the pool size from swimming. Each platform glass sealed with blue tape… some very visibly cracked! Towels in black bins?!!! What?! Surely a small table with pool towels would suffice Sun loungers stained and soiled Lots of electrical cables everywhere with some exposed sockets. Really tired and needs refurbishment!!! ayia napa circa 2000 - 18’s to 30’s club holidays. No vegan options - cheese, milk, yogurt etc Bread rolls stale not fresh and toasty Continental breakfast not a problem for me but quality of food must surpass! Poor food presentation and looked unappetising…
Had a fantastic stay at Pestana Rio, breakfast choices were plentiful. staff at the hotel ranging from receptionists, through to room cleaners, to bar staff at the pool couldn’t do enough for you, we were even given the full day at the room the day we left at no surcharge, location is great and would highly recommend this hotel for all Great hospitality
Pestana Rio De Janeiro: the worst experience in a hotel. poor service from employees. has no interest in solving simple demands, apartments with broken equipment. anyway, the worst possible experience
