I stayed for three nights in an ocean front. The room was average size but with two large windows that open onto Copacabana Beach. The hotel is furnished with beautiful colonial antiques. The room has a traditional look and is very well maintained. The staff is super friendly, responsive, and called me by my name from the start. During my stay, my contact lens scratched my eye and I needed an eye doctor. Leonardo at the front desk was amazing and within an hour arranged for me to see an ophthalmologist at a very modern eye clinic. He saved the day. I’m very grateful to him and will use the hotel as my first choice for future visits to Rio!
This hotel has it all. We stayed here for a week and were happy with choosing this hotel every single day. A perfect location to start with, both in terms of the beach and in terms of nice restaurants and bars nearby. All the staff is very friendly and service oriented. Breakfast is great. Diner also. The concierges really go the extra mile to help you arrange things. Rooms are spacious and clean. The beds are great. So nothing but praise. When we will get back to Rio, we will go for this one for sure.
Rio was just a 2 day stop in our Brazil trip and we didn't have big expectations for it. Well, the Miramar hotel surprised us with amazing service, luxury oversized rooms, convenient beach access and chairs/umbrella service, and the best breakfast in Rio. All of these was complimented by a breathtaking pool/bar rooftop. The staff goes out of their way to help you with luggage, parking the car, making suggestions/reservations for tours, restaurants, walks. If coming to Rio, this is the place to stay!
I strongly recommend this hotel to who likes to stay in Copacabana. The hotel is litterally one block to the beach. The service is extremely welcoming and professional. Clean room, new furniture. The view from the Room (ocean side) is beautiful. The Rooftop pool is nice but not big. Beautiful view anyway. I would have appreciated a more traditional breakfast, even if the one served is giant and very good :) Rooms are not to quiet. you can hear bang the doors of other guests...
Many years later, I was back at the hotel with my Husband. the hotel was great, nice and highly clean rooms. The breakfast was marvelous, with hot dishes prepared on demand and full buffet. Moreover, I can highlight the great staff, with plenty of personal all the time to give any support for reservations or any other small details.
My family and I hired Wolgrand Paes to do a private guided tour. He came highly recommended by the Miramar Hotel and what an exceptional job he did! A city tour is nothing without an EXCELLENT knowledge of the city to be visited. Wolgrand demonstrated deep knowledge on many levels, from the history to the urban development of Rio. A fantastic part of the tour, a hidden gem of Rio, was the Library… which was infact more of a walk-in museum, with endless heights of ancient books from years of old. Another example is the first cathedral of the city, which gave us good insight into Rio’s origins. Though not necessarily the most interesting facts for our nine year old daughter, Wolgrand showed her the basin in which Princess Isabella was baptized - made by Tiffany no less. More importantly, he catered to our interests by allowing us to do a little walking around spots of particular interest, like Selarón’s staircase… but starting from the top (away from the crowds) to work our way down. A last point to mention is that Wolgrand is very fluent in English! …let alone Spanish and Portuguese. Even with all the knowledge about Rio de Janeiro, proper communication is key! Thank you for an exceptional experience on many fronts and we hope to see you again during our next tour of Rio. Obrigado! We highly recommend WOLGRAND PAES for your next tour of Rio!…
DO NOT BOOK PLEASE! We were robbed from our safe. Feont desk enoloyees and manager are not ginving answers or solution only more problems. Hotel is not a five stars hotel, attention is awful they do.not bring solutions only more problems
I was a little concerned in the days leading up to my stay here, since the communication from the hotel via email was extremely poor, leading me to wonder whether I had an airport transfer arranged or not. Fortunately everything worked out in the end, but the lack of any confirmation from a five star hotel was very surprising. On arrival though the reception desk was much better, despite the late time of the day, and I was quickly in the impressive room on the ninth floor. The first impression which struck, having booked an Executive Double room, was the spacious size. The bed was massive and there was plenty of space surrounding along with an armchair and coffee table with no compromise on space. The desk was large enough to work at with a comfortable seat and there was also storage underneath the big TV along with plenty of drawers and cupboards. The bed itself gave a great nights sleep and really met the five star expectations, with lots of pillows and top quality duvet. The air conditioning in the room wasn’t the best, and only seemed to have a real effect near the window, but if left on permanently did a good enough job of making the room comfortable. The mini bar had a good range of items plus there were plenty of spirits lefts on the desk, and large complimentary bottles of water which was welcomed. Hot drinks were provided via the Nespresso machine, but I was surprised to be charged for the pods used upon check out which was never notified or ever been the case in other hotels. The bathroom was a great area, being equally as spacious as the main bedroom area and loads of storage space available around the marbled sink. No bath, but the shower was spacious with good power and heat, with plenty of good quality towels and a both toilet and bidet. I’d highly recommend making sure you secure a sea facing room, as this was one of the best parts of the hotel for me. Being right on the beachfront you get a great view, plus sunrise in the morning is certainly worth waking up early for. Overall it was a great room and there’s little I’d want to change. One of the highlights of the property is the roof top pool, which is a great place to spend the hot afternoon hours. While not a massive area, there’s a decent number of sun beds and there’s more tables available on the upper level and down the side of the building. The views from the top are great both during the day and night and the bar staff are friendly and efficient. Food is served from midday, although I found it took a very long time to arrive and was rather disappointing when it did - the toasty seemed more microwaved than fresh and presentation wasn’t the best. However for a pool side snack there’s a decent enough menu range. There’s also a more formal restaurant on the ground floor which I’ve left a separate review for. Checking out was a very slow process just before midday. The reception desk only has three positions and it took around thirty minutes to reach the front of the queue and finally complete paying the bill. It was nice for someone to be offering drinks during the process, but disappointing it was only once you’d reached the front of the queue and almost finished with the process. The staff once again were super friendly though, happy to help with printing airline boarding passes and leaving bags with the concierge team left a good final impression. Overall I found this a wonderful hotel for my short visit to the area. The pool is great area to relax, the room was spacious and the staff really friendly everywhere. While the facilities might be five star there’s a few improvements needed to make the experience match the expectation, but it would still be near the top of my shortlist to stay next time I’m in the city.…
The hotel is far too noisy by hearing your neighbors in the shower or anything in their bathroom, room doors that don’t silently close but slam, people speaking in the corridors - no one can keep a secret out there. Third night, second room and haven’t slept. I can’t wait to leave for some good night sleep So many others have commented
If you are staying on Copacabana Beach, this is a great choice. Close enough to easily walk to Ipanema. Beach services are great with chairs and umbrellas as well as a great drink from a beachside little tent bar. Rooftop bar is breathtaking. With pool view overlooking the beach and Sugarloaf Mountain in the background. Staff is helpful and welcoming—especially “J” who showed us our room and offered great suggestions, remembered our name, kindly tolerated my horrible Portuguese and was always happy to have a conversation. He is the best example of the welcoming and kind Brazilian culture that makes Brazil a great choice for travelers. Go with the beach view room—well worth it.
