This hotel, located in an older part of town, in the Lapa neighborhood, costs as much as a Motel 6 in the US (about $40/night) yet it's apartments, when compared t Motel 6, are royal suites. Very clean, firm beds and pillows, large bathrooms, LCD TV sets, good internet connection and, most importantly, excellent, courteous and attentive staff. Good breakfast (not included in price), clean and quick restaurant in the hotel. I recommend it for those who are trying to skip the high costs of Rio. Do not, however, expect great views from any room.

I stayed at the this small hotel during the 2016 Summer Olympics. Its location, in the 'Centro/Lapa border' area of Rio, places it within a comfortable walk (or ride) to many restaurants, Park Campo se Santana (one block), Central train station, the National Library, the Escadaria Selarón (famous mosaic steps), Santos Dumont Airport (2.5 miles), downtown shopping and transportation. Very helpful front desk personnel (24 hours) who only spoke Portuguese however manager, who is quite available during the day, spoke excellent English and provided outstanding helpful assistance. My air-conditioned room was much larger than expected and included a queen-size bed, sofa, separate dining area with mini refrigerator, flatscreen TV, Wi-Fi, large shower and even a Jacuzzi and dry sauna. There was only a wardrobe to take care of clothing. A dependable elevator took you to higher floors. Compared to other available accommodations in the area, this establishment would be considered a budget hotel. One can make arrangements for breakfast at the next-door restaurant associated with a hotel – however, I ate breakfast elsewhere. The surrounding area, at night, looks a little seedy when the storefronts are shuttered (highly common). These are some of Rio's oldest streets and buildings. Considering Rio's reputation, taxi transportation or walking in groups is recommended. During the day the neighborhood becomes quite lively and I felt very safe. I would stay at this hotel again.

I presume that the hotel management likes to get rid of his former reputation of a motel or hotel for passing by's . I was very well surprised of the cleanness of the room. A room with good accomodation. Breackfast is a simple continenntal one but very more than enough, this is served in the room ( separate hall ) after a simple fone call to the reception between 7 and 10 am. They also serve dinners in the room at a very attractive rate, you can not go eating out cheaper and better ( steak + fries + salad +/- 15..oo Euro ) Staff very helpfull . No safe in room available but guests can ask to keep belongings in managers safe. Surrounding streets look not so safe during nights, better to take a taxi to the place where you have to be. This is the real old Rio, enjoy the daily life of the Cariocas !
