The place looked like it hadn't had any maintenance since the 1950s. There was exposed loose wiring on the shower (see photo). The air conditioning made a right racket. If someone on your floor switched theirs on it'd wake you up. On Saturday night there was music blaring away until 6 in the morning. The worst part of all though is the location. As soon as night falls it seems like they let everybody out of prison and sent them to the area surrounding the hotel. If you're white you are literally taking your life into your own hands walking from the Metro stop to the hotel. As soon as they see a gringo they think they're loaded and start asking you for money, this was during the day on the walk to the Metro stop. I didn't risk the walk at night. Not worth the money and it wasn't exactly cheap anyway. It had free wifi, but it was so slow that it was pretty much useless. On the plus side the staff were very friendly and helpful, but there's only so much they can do. More

Cockroaches move freely in bathrooms and the communal breakfast table. There are mosquitoes that have been squished against the wall and never scraped off. The water was terrible (cold!), the room had a strong excrement smell, 24/7. The toilet in my friend's room overflew in a festering eruption of feces, in the middle of the night. The staff were willing to help us in finding our keys that they themselves had misplaced. My other friend had his dress shirt stolen from his room on our last night. More
