Ambience not very inviting. The room was very sparsely appointed. Wifi wasn't working properly and very slow. The bathroom smelled extremely unpleasantly of disinfectant, petrol or something. Some staff spoke English and were helpful. Good location to visit Gloria, but will go elsewhere next time.
Very run-down place. Bathroom was dirty, toilette seat broken. They advertised a fitness center but refused to open it to guests. Not even coffee at breakfast, just instant stuff. The location was good, but that doesnt make up for the otherwise bad experience. Better to avoid.
A suíte é maravilhosa! Fui e recomendo. Se precisar, volto. Um quarto grande, chuveiro escaldante se quiser, banheira maravilhosa. Tudo realmente incrível. The suite is wonderful! Went and recommend. If you need to, I'll be back. A large room, scorching shower if you want, wonderful bathtub. All really amazing.
This hotel is near the Metro Gloria and, though somewhat dated, has very comfortable rooms with queen sized beds and an extra twin bed and large bathroom with an awesome large shower. The water pressure in the large shower was very good. Having traveled extensively in Brazil, I would say the hot water and water pressure was about as good as it gets in Brazil. The room also has a seating area with nice views of the marina. The staff was friendly and most spoke English. The breakfast was pretty good, but the breakfast room had little natural light and could be improved. Overall, I was very impressed with this hotel. I often judge the hotel by the pillows, bed and shower. All three were excellent at this hotel. The wifi is free and worked very well also. Though it isn't in pricier Ipanema or Copacabana, you get a much better value here and you are only a few blocks from the Gloria Metro, close to Lapa and an easy and relatively quick Metro ride to Copacabana or Ipanema beach. You can also get a taxi to either of those places for about $30 or $40 BRL ($10 USD). I would highly recommend this hotel.…
We were in Rio for the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race and this hotel was closest to the Marina. The views were fabulous. The room was basic with a huge bed (and a spare single in every room), had a seating area and the most amazing shower - huge with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was good with a range of food for everyone's dietary taste. The place could have been cleaner and is a bit dated. The area has some character but is noisy at all hours of the day and night - working window handles might have helped with that. Sadly there were many homeless people sleeping right outside the front door and I didn't always feel safe, and the prostitutes were a bit of a shock, but this is Rio. The hotel has few amenities but the staff were helpful. The Diamond was fine for our needs but not if we were looking for a beach holiday hotel.…
