It is a very nice old Villa which has few rooms with classical furniture , but with all the luxury standards from today. Its location is on a hill in Santa Tereza, the center of Rio de Janeiro, not very close to the standard districts such as Copacabana or Ipanema, but the district itself is certainly worth walking around, with...

I have been to Rio many many times for business and pleasure since 1990.This Year I found out Villa Laurinda, which is located in of Santa Teresa, safe area in central Rio much less explored by mass tourists. It has an air of old Europe with beautiful houses and spacious gardens, spectacular views of the city and its bay, with...

We wanted to book some other place but they were full and suggested we contacted Villa Laurinda - well, we didn't but they did and we ended up booking two nights with them. In Rio we always stay in Copacabana and this time decided to stay in Santa Teresa to know better other parts of Rio. The neighbourhood is interesting,...

After 3 weeks of excellent accommodation traveling through Brazil our expectations of Villa Laurinda were high and not quite met. Sergio, one of the managers was most helpful, and the house is very beautiful, however we didn't feel as comfortable in Villa Laurinda as we did in our other accommodations in Brazil and feel it lacked the personal touch. We...

I had an excellent stay at Villa Laurinda. It's a gorgeous space, a mix of the modern and antique, in the best neighborhood in Rio. The rooms and bathrooms are well-appointed. The breakfast is delicious. And the managers are helpful and friendly, particularly Christina! Beijos!

Villa Laurinda is located in a great area of Rio de Janeiro - Santa Teresa - which is about as far removed in every aspect from the beach as you can get. While this provides some welcome relief it also makes it rather difficult to get back to Santa Teresa - we found that many taxi drivers had no idea...

Room: The room was very basic, but charming. The bed was a little uncomfortable, and it was a hot in the room. No air con, and a ceiling fan, which didn’t aid much, meant keeping the windows open. Our room was noisy, at the front of the house, thus we could hear cars, and in the morning all the dogs...

Villa Laurinda is not just a very well located bed and breakfast in one of Rio's most charming and hapenning spots at the moment, but it's also the cozier and most friendly place I have ever stayed. A beautiful victorian mansion surrounded by a large garden with a swimming pool right next to the gorgeous breakfast terrace. The owners -...

We met someone staying here while in Rio and decided to move for few days from Ipanema to Santa Teresa. That proved to be great decision. Staying in Santa Teresa

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
