Our stay at Carmen and Fernando's was the best part of our 3 weeks trip in Brazil. We ended our trip in Rio and were so happy to arrive in such a beautiful house a wonderful room. Our hosts, Carmen and Fernando, are ones of the kindest persons I've met. Always available to give advice on things to do or...

We came to this b&b in Santa Teresa because some of our friends in Rio were close friends with Carmen & Fernando. My room was with some refurbishing going on, so they charged me much less than expected. Breakfast was in a huge kitchen table, very complete and sort of a meeting point with other guests. The living room is...

I've been there many times and was always a beautiful time! The house is wonderful as the lovely couple, carmen ad Fernando. Just stay at home and enjoy the beatiful vew is nice enough, but they bring us to this cool carioca atmosphere that live inside them. Know their friends was also great! Thank you so much!

This is one of the best places in Rio to stay. It is very safe and quiet in a fabulous location. They provide excellent service, and the atmosphere is amazing - very artistic and eclectic decor - which makes for a really enjoyable stay. The staff is awesome, and I had a great view of the marina and really felt...

It was our first time in Rio de Janeiro and we spent 7 nights at Carmen and Fernando. Case de Carmen e do Fernando is in Santa Teresa, a charming quarter of Rio. We are very happy that we have not chosen an accommodation at Copacabana or Ipanema, cause Santa Teresa is a very beautiful and relaxed quarter. The rooms...

We stayed at this pousada in Santa Teresa just after Carnaval 2010. We found it from Trip Advisor and to be honest...were expecting quite a bit more. Perhaps it was just the last room available (downstairs under the terrace). The room itself was setup as a bunk/bed loft with very little standing room available (we had to stoop most of...

I have been now 2 times in Rio, and I would not like to stay somewhere else! The house is large and so beautiful with its artwork and it´s colorful and creative style! You feel at home and when you want the "family contact" there is so often time to talk to Fernando and Carmen, to ask about where and...

They only have 2 real rooms and they pretend to sell the 3x3meters jail rooms on the bottom floor at the same price (around 100 usd); most strikingly they also think that such holes with no closet are a perfect accomodation for a family of 4 staying one week, like it was settled by e-mail for our reservation. After spending...

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
