Carmen & Fernando's House is a lovely old colonial property perched on the side of a hill, with one of the world's most beautiful cities sprawled in the valleys below. The view is stunning. From the terrace you can see right out across the bay. One of Río's oldest neighborhoods, with many a huge, rambling old house on its winding,...

Beautiful house, great breakfast , awesome host. Quiet neighborhood ( please take taxi) specially don't take the back road going to Lapa. The team is a walking distance as well as the steps . A bit far from Gloria ... actually it is near but with Rio infested with muggers .. be very careful and do not carry any bag...

During my three week holiday I stayed in total 3 days at this nice B & B. The lady, Carmen, spoke good english. Carmen explained me many things about Rio and outside Rio. Good breakfast and for Rio a reasonable price for a one person bedroom. I felt really home. A great place to stay. A good thing is that...

This is one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in. The location is good, the rooms are quite basic, but clean. The hotel is quite unassuming, as the owners (Carmen and Fernando) have converted their own family home. They welcome you like family and are the some of the warmest, kindest people I have met. They will go...

We came here having touched down in Rio from London and it was just the most perfect start to our trip in South America - many thanks Carmen and Fernando. It's not the easiest place to find if you arrive in the dark as we did. Just have confidence in the address and then knock on the door even though...

We were struggling to find a place to stay for the Olympics with our three children. This B&B came open and we booked it. It was clean and the beds were comfortable and they had a 3 person room for our boys. This was a great pick and less expensive although I would still try for a hotel next time....

My girlfriend and myself traveled to Brazil in 2015 and booked our 2 first nights here in Rio. On top of the clean and nice rooms, the terrace is simply amazing. Hosts were great and we decided to spend our last days in Rio at the same place, so in total 4 great nights spent there!

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Teresa
Santa Teresa is a bohemian enclave hosting many local artists’ studios. The narrow, winding streets of this neighbourhood were revitalised years ago, and visitors can now stroll through this area to view magnificent mansions dating back to the late 19th and early 20th century. A highlight not miss: Museu Chacará do Céu, a former mansion turned museum which houses works by prominent Brazilian modern artists.
