I recently returned from a week long trip to Rio de Janeiro and stayed at the Arena Ipanema hotel. This hotel exceeded every expectation I had. Let me say that I usually stay at Air B & B's but this hotel was recommended to me and I'm so glad that I took that advice. The location is absolutely PERFECT, it's less than a block from the stunning Ipanema beach and Arpoador rock (where everyone watches the sunset). The hotel's staff were outstanding, they set up our covid PCR tests, they gave us recommendations for restaurants (and made reservations for us), and provided advice on when to see certain attractions. The rooftop is two levels and weren't crowded. The pool is narrow but perfect for a dip. The bartenders and staff were attentive and great. Around the hotel there are a bunch of restaurants and a few bars. It's an extremely safe location with a nice police presence in the evening. There are also taxis locations near the hotel. I don't have anything negative to say about this place. Highly recommended.…
great location very friendly staff, it is worth mentioning the excellent cleaning of the rooms and the receptionist larissa who provided us with late check out. wonderful hosting, of course we'll come back at next vacations.
We ordered “arroz negro“ (black paella) at the restaurant of the hotel (Ottaviano). The arroz was to be delivered at home as we were hosting a dinner for 8 people. The service was excellent, the food was at home at the time we had agreed and more importantly, the arroz was delicious! We will repeat!
Close to EVERYTHING! If you are looking for friendly staff, decent sized modern room, walking distance to the beach and more, this would be a good place for you to stop. The front desk staff knows English very well and the free breakfast has a good variety of food in buffet style format. Uber finds you fast when you want to go places. Just like with anywhere in Rio use the safe in your hotel for valuables, when out in public keep jewelry, watches and cellphones to minimal viewing and you’ll have a great time. Rio is a fabulous experience to visit. Just remember the nearest atm is about 4/10 of a mile away so walk or Uber as there isn’t one in the hotel. I’d definitely stay here again.
The hotel is in Ipanema but only 10 minutes walk from Copacabana, so both beaches are easily accessible. We had booked a number of rooms for our wedding guests. A special mention for Luana (responsible for reservations) who handled all our complicated reservations. The rooms are clean, with modern fixtures and fittings. USB power outlet another plus. Roof-top pool bar has a great view and there's another floor above for extended seating. Breakfast is on the ground floor and serves a mixture of hot and cold buffet plus fruits. The Staff are great. A special mention about Cesar at Reception: He went out of his way to make sure us and our friends were well looked after. The head housekeeper Marcelle also went above and beyond.
This is our second time at Arena Ipanema. We really enjoyed it, just as we did last time. Rooms are modern, food is great and above all, the location makes it really easy to access all parts of Rio. Could not fault the service either. Only negatives: if you’re easily affected by noise, you may find that you hear your neighbours a bit too easily (we did have adjoining rooms though, so perhaps it was just the quirk of that type of room — but we could hear them talking. Would have been a problem had we not been out late ourselves). Second is just comical for us. We asked for an iron and told they did not have any. Later we asked again thinking it was a case of availability, but no. They don’t have any irons. They gave us some story about a guest having left theirs on and almost burning down a room, which added the laughs. I think most modern irons automatically shutdown, or we’d have hotels burning down all the time haha). Accept they don’t have irons, but then they should offer a pressing service free of charge in its place. Hardly a reason not to choose this hotel but I do hope they understand how basic this kind of thing is. Third basic this is that the room has no coffee or tea. Again, not major but something that we missed.…
This was my second stay in this excellent hotel. I chose it initially for its location on the beach in Ipanema however there is much more to like about this hotel. The first time I visited I stayed in a regular double room #305 which faced the park next to the beach. This time I stayed in a superior room #808 on a higher floor with wonderful views of the beach, ocean, and the Arpoador park. The views is the difference between the rooms as they are the same size and have the same furnishings. The hotel and rooms are clean and modern. No carpeting. They have a roof deck on the 9th floor with a pool and bar and great views of Aproador and Ocean. Although I had picked this hotel mainly because of its location it’s a very nice hotel. It has a modern feel and a very efficient and attentive staff. Breakfast in the morning is included. Lots of cut mango, melon and papaya etc. They could use more vegetarian options but its nice they had the mango, melon and papaya cuts. They also have hot stuff. I definitely recommend this hotel. It’s not pretentious and checks all the boxes and more. The wifi works great throughout the hotel. Being able to just walk out and within 5 minutes be spending time on the beach was priceless. And that park next door is very interesting with amazing views from the top. I felt safe in the area. Uber was about 65 BRS to/from the airport. …
Our airline rescheduled our flight for the following day so we tried to call them to move the booking over one day, not cancel or anything. They told us to rebook the entire trip and they'd refund the other reservation, but the rebooking would be way more expensive so we asked them to just move the dates over by 1 day. The hotel was extremely combative and rude. Do not stay with this hotel. They are awful to their customers.
Fantastic location, 5 minute walk to Copacabana & just round the corner from Pedra do Arpoador which is next to Ipanema beach. The hotel itself is super modern, clean with a great rooftop bar & pool which has an extensive food & drink selection. The rooms are also a decent size. Breakfast was buffet style and excellent every day. However the stand out for me was the staff who were all exceptional. We speak limited Portuguese (we try!) so, selfishly, it was a real positive that the staff spoke such good English. Everyone was really friendly, patient & proactive, it really felt like everyone went over & above to provide great customer service. The only downside was the gym which was very small and only had a handful of machines with no free weights.
Very modern and well thought out hotel. The staff are very good, in particular Cesar on reception who was very welcoming. Breakfast is good standard in Brazil. The only bad points: Our toilet stopped working after 1 day but was very quickly repaired. They try to get you into their own taxi after check out, which always takes a while to arrive, which is not necessary because in front of the hotel is a taxi stand always with taxis available. Very good overall. You can’t go wrong here.
