EASTERNMOST HOTEL OF THE AMERICAN CONTINENT Considered the easternmost hotel of the american continent due to its proximity to Ponta do Seixas, a landmark positioned at the far east of America, the Hotel Nord Class Cabo Branco is located at the end of Cabo Branco beach and is, for this very reason, the closest hotel to the city's Convention Center, one of the most modern and well equipped in Brazil. All of this allied to its three conference rooms and its calm atmosphere make this one of the best hotels in town for corporate meetings or trainings. The swimming pool on the roof shows a truly magnificent view of the whole city and the spacious restaurant, which serves contemporary cuisine, make this hotel well suited to exceed all of your expectations and all guests alike.

The hotel has a good location, close to the central part of Cabo Branco, but to walk it is a little far away, great for those with a car. Close to the Food Truck and kiosks, located by the sea. Although it has a good location, it deserves more care! The water in the pool was oily, not very inviting. The rooms could have been cleaner, especially the bathroom, which had dirt from previous guests. The room had damp on the walls and curtains with some mold. If they took more care of the cleanliness and aesthetics of the hotel, it would be a great recommendation!
The place does not offer breakfast, they are suites with a basic kitchen structure, but very few utensils (2 or 3 glasses and cutlery, 1 small plate and another large one...), the suites could also be better equipped in this sense. Cleaning service is only offered every 3 days. The reception staff are very attentive.

I was here in 2011 and returned for 2 weeks in August 2012. The hotel is at the far end of Cabo Branco - good if you want quiet, not so good if you want to be in the center of action.

Farol do Cabo Branco (lighthouse at Cabo Branco) and Ponta do Seixas (eastern most point of the Americas) are a couple of miles away and make for a nice morning walk. Nearby is the Culture and Arts Center designed by Oscar Neimeyer.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. There was rooftop pool and patio that afforded a great view of Cabo Brano. The staff was helpful and friendly. A buffet-style breakfast was served every morning and was part of the stay.

The room was clean and nice, although I don't understand why did we have a sink in the room while there was no pantry. The location was great, right in front of the beach. It was clean and lovely. I am a runner, so I enjoyed the morning run on the beach almost every morning. It seemed everybody was into activity. People were running, biking, walking and swimming almost all day. It was lovely. Breakfast was ok. Coffee was bad. They had a rooftop swimming pool and bar.

Dear Nancy, Thank you for your kind review. You probably stayed in one of our special apartments for handicapped people, that is why there was a sink in the middle of you room. We're glad you liked the beach and the surroundings of the hotel, João Pessoa is truly a beautiful place =) We hope to see you again soon in one of our hotels. Best regards

A horror movie couldn’t have been worse.

1). The staff was rude.

2). The room only came with one thin sheet on the bed, so we had to buy a comforter and pillows ourselves. I later say a stained pillow in the closet (see pictures).

3). The bathroom sink was clogged (see pictures) and the residual water caused a stench.

4). The toilet only flushed if you held the button down for three minutes. There was also left over urine from the previous guests.

5). The air conditioner in the kitchen is broken.

6). The water was turned off for 48 hours, so we couldn’t take a shower or do dishes or brush out teeth during this time. Unfortunately, we left the faucet turned on, and then the water came back on, the room flooded because the sink was clogged! The staff had to spend two hours cleaning up the water.

7). Security is a joke. The security guard literally sleeps on the job (see pictures). He sleeps on the couch in the check-in area while the employees stare at him.

Zero silence!
The hotel is well located on the beach of Cabo Branco and promises access to the nearest beach for bathing ha 3 km. The site says 100 meters.
Box sound in the pool of different guests each with their music mixing an unbearable carnival for the ear of the most selective.
In the amenities, “double” beds are no more than single beds that were grouped hard and uncomfortable. Yellow pads, old bathrooms and walls of egg box because you listen with detail absolutely everything the other guests do from walking, dragging chairs both on the upper floors and on both sides, outside the noise of children screaming at 5:00 in the morning through the corridors. Silencio zero.

Ocean Front hotel at the end of a residential Cabo Branco seemed to be a good choice for a quite relaxing spot. However there’s a sewer outflow directly across the street, which makes the beach not suitable for bathing and not pleasant smell.
Staff was nice and polite but not much resourceful.
“Hot” water in the shower was lukewarm as best.
Facilities and equipment not modern.
Old TV and no international channels nor cable.
Spotty WiFi throughout the hotel.
AC didn’t work properly but fixed a few days later.
Beach towels were not available for a couple of days as they had ran out due to laundry not delivering; sheets were not changed daily.
Breakfast was not good.
It was hard if you were looking for healthier choices such as unsweetened low fat yogurt; hard boiled eggs; multi grain breads; large variety of fruits; turkey cold cuts, etc. Despite providing several types of cake ( not particularly special and not tasty) and bread (white and stale) the coffee was good.

Hotel is nicely situated, with a road separating it from the beach. Rooms are spacious, but basic. I had to get up at 3:00AM the next day for an earlky night. Hotel was quite noisy until late in the evening and the recetion forgot to provide the requested wake-up call (always good to have a back-up).

We stayed for three nights at the Nord Blue Sunset in December 2013. The hotel is located at the very end of Joao Pessoa’s city beach on Avenida Cabo Branco. While the hotel is not located in the immediate area of beach action and beach restaurants, we found the location quite good. It is beachfront and a 10 minutes’ walk along a nice promenade to the more busy areas of the beach. Also, in difference to some other bigger Brazilian cities the beach promenade seemed save after dark. There were plenty of local families and groups (and some tourists) enjoying the promenade in the evening. We did not feel unsafe walking back home along the promenade to the hotel after a dinner in one of the many beachside restaurants. The beach itself is a city beach, so no postcard perfect scenery, but it’s a nice city beach and clean. It worked perfectly fine for us during our short stay.

The hotel itself is not perfect, but it has some winning points. At least the ocean front apartments are really nice and spacious and have a large balcony facing the ocean and promenade. Also our room was well cleaned. Breakfast was varied and good with some local warm dishes complementing the usual choices of a breakfast buffet. All in all we found it to be one best breakfast buffets we encountered during our fall travels in South America. Although English is spoken only on a very limited basis in the hotel, the friendly staff is also definitely a plus point of the hotel. With their limited English and our very limited Portuguese we were able to finally solve all problems simply because they seemed to be genuinely willing to understand us and work with us. If at some point were not able to understand each other, there was always somebody on the phone available to translate.

Some of the problems we encountered are the reason, why in the end it was not a perfect choice. Late on the second evening we had to move rooms, because the a/c unit, which was placed right above our bed, was broken which lead to the fact that our bed was completely soaked in the water overflown from the a/c unit. Probably because it was the middle of the night we were moved to a small and depressing unit facing a wall on the ground floor. After asking to be moved again on the next day we again got nice oceanfront apartment. However, we spent the three nights we stayed at the hotel in three different rooms, which was a bit of a hassle.

Also disturbing was the fact that hot water during our stay was either somewhere between cold and lukewarm or outright cold, except for the very first evening, when hot water was fine.

After the last night we had to leave very early in the morning to reach a 6 am flight departure. We told this the evening before with the front desk and they said “no problem” and arranged a taxi for us. When we came down to check out in the wee hours, the taxi was waiting and everything seemed to be prepared and going well; right up until it was time to charge our credit card. After several trials and some time wasted we asked what the problem was. We got the answer that the card has been repeatedly declined. We tried another card – same result. After several unsuccessful attempts with a third card, I finally asked to see the error message. Was I surprised when the message read “problem with paper” (or something like that in Portuguese). After some insistence to put in a new paper roll and try again, the payment went through without a problem. But we have lost half an hour during the check-out process; at 4 am !

So, there are a lot of pros and cons with this hotel. But we liked the hotel and I think the Nord Blue Sunset could be a real choice for us, in spite of the problems, if we come back to the beaches of Joao Pessoa.
