Detailed Reviews
The Ba’ra Hotel is probably the best hotel in Joao Pessoa. This was our first time staying here, but we had previously visited to dine in their 2 restaurants, and seeing a bit of their infrastructure, I wanted to give them a try. We were not disappointed.
Our room was elegantly designed, although a bit small. The bed is large, and of good quality, but surprisingly not that comfortable, but the linens are incredibly soft—a great quality cotton. The bathroom is large and the shower is even bigger (and the water pressure is great).
The hotel has only been open for about 4 months (since October 2022). I think they are still shaking the bugs out, but their future looks good. The hotel staff are almost all incredible: in the restaurant Iocá, the maitre Murilo and our waitress Valeria were excellent; Guillherme, who works at the reception was able to answer any question I had about the property; the mixologist, Ulisses in Iocá had an encyclopedic knowledge of the art of drink preparation; Luciano, who works as security at the entrance was as charming, friendly and helpful as could be; Aquila, the hostess in Iocá was a wonderful face for the hotel, as she was as friendly as she was professional. There were many employees who I want to praise, but I cannot remember all their names.
Guillherme explained to me that the hotel has 122 rooms; the name “Ba’ra” means “ocean”, the name of their rooftop bar/restaurant, “Orama”, means “view” (both of these words are from the native Tupi language).
The hotel has a kid’s space (really cute!), a rooftop pool (warm water), a 24-hour gym (great machines) and a spa; you can use bicycles that the hotel provides free of charge; breakfast, which is included, has options such as mimosas, eggs Benedict or smoked salmon; the rooms provide cotton robes and they also provide complimentary spumante at check-in and welcome petit-fours in your room. Private parking is also complimentary.
The hotel has 2 restaurants that are both open to the public for lunch and dinner (the service in both are intermittently good/bad, so if you eat here, you have a 50/50 chance of having a great meal (or a terrible one…). Lunch has always been good—dinners here, not so much.
The location is the best you can get in the entire town—you are in the heart of the city, on the beach, near every restaurant that you might want to visit and any place you might want to go shopping. If you want to do a tour, the hotel has excellent concierge services that can help you with anything.

This is the first 5 star hotel in Joao Pessoa and it was great to stay at such a lovely hotel. The location is perfect - on the main sea front area in Cabo Branco right next to the pedestrian zone. There is good parking at the rear of the hotel. We normally only stay at hotels for one or two nights but we stayed here for 10 nights due to a long visit to Joao Pessoa. The staff were so friendly from the minute we arrived to the minute we left - they are very well trained and very helpful. There are two excellent restaurants on site and the breakfast is fantastic with lots of good options and very varied. Everything is made at the hotel and they vary the menu everyday. It was lovely to see staff greeting each other in the morning and showed what a good atmosphere there is. The view from the upstairs small pool area is stunning. We had several reasonably priced massages which we appreciated. The shower in the room was excellent and good air conditioning. The hotel organised a good city tour. There were some teething problems with our room around the air conditioning and building work noise but staff handled these very well and we moved rooms. We would recommend that the hotel considers more lighting (floor lamps) as it was difficult to read and more seating in the rooms. We definitely hope to be back to stay at this lovely hotel. Highly recommended.

I loved the structure of the hotel, the location by the sea, and the incredible service from the team, with special mention to Felipe (reception), Lucas, Sandra (spa) and Marcelo (breakfast in the restaurant). They have immense affection for their guests, and this makes the accommodation and experience even more special. I found the concierge service to be a treat, and the entire structure of the room is very good, the bed is delicious, and even better having a spa inside the hotel. Sandra's hands are magical, be sure to book a massage! Beach towels are freely available, which helps a lot on days at sea. It really is the best hotel in the region, and if you can invest, book without fear!

The kindness in the service is exceptional. Starting with cleaning the room, in addition to the daily cleaning, at the end of the afternoon someone always comes to place a complimentary chocolate in the room. The restaurants are great, with excellent service and very appropriate menus. Great service also at the pool, where there are always dry towels available. At breakfast, there is an incredible variety, ideal for both those who want to have a big meal and those on a diet. The waiter Ivanilson was particularly kind, always smiling and attentive to service.

The structure does not deserve a rating of 5.
The room is small and the bathroom is very dark. The bed and bathroom are very good. The trousseau is all from Trousseau. The TV could be bigger. Perfect air conditioning. Cleaning and tidying of the room 10.
Small pool area, and would only improve with (possible) work extending to the back (where tables are located in the Orama's outdoor area).
Services can and should be improved to guarantee a grade 5.
The pool service is not good: the waiter doesn't stay there for long and has no way to call you. The pool was not being cleaned properly. Insects and trash in the water and on the edges EVERY day... Including comments from other guests there...
Room corridors with high temperatures and stuffy, simply due to the lack of air conditioning on and windows open.... How can we understand this?
The breakfast sweets and breads, with the exception of the cookies, are pitifully bad: hard and dry. There's no way to eat it!
Only ONE type of yogurt (strawberry) EVERY day. (No zero sugar option, no lactose). Only two varieties of juices, every day.
The worst omelette I've ever eaten in my life: little filling and completely dry. Toasts save: they are good.
And there is nothing more unpleasant than employees quickly starting to collect everything when the breakfast deadline arrives, WHILE people are still inside the premises. I thought. This is unacceptable. It bothered me a lot...
Regarding the restaurant dishes: several were tasteless (not enough salt and seasoning) and errors (wrong point of the risotto and picanha).
The warm seafood salad is amazingly good (Iocá restaurant).
Drinks prepared in small glasses with little ice. I had to ask to exchange for a larger glass with more ice, as all drinks are usually made in all the establishments I frequent...
However, most of the employees in all sectors are polite, pleasant and helpful, especially Danylo, Felipe and João Victor (I don't remember the names of the others)

We hosted a lunch for guests at Orama and the experience was impeccable from start to finish. Since the negotiation with Mr. Wilson. Extremely polite person, receptive, welcoming and seeking to surprise. Hostesses Geisy and Áquila were also super polite and very kind. The event took place yesterday, 09/01/2023, and everything went impeccably. It was wonderful. Maitre Adones is sensational, helpful, polite, and always around to offer the best. We were surprised by the Orama team with a drink made especially for our event and featuring the company logo. I was an absolute success! The day was incredibly beautiful, with the blue-green sea and super blue sky. A perfect combination with the restaurant that reflects the beauty of our city. A unique, surprising experience that was very worthwhile. We are a real estate agency, called Afeto, in João Pessoa that works with the main construction companies in the city and Orama aligns with our way of treating clients and promoting for them a unique experience of living in the best developments that João Pessoa has to offer.

This hotel is simply fantastic, we arrived on Monday and were very well received by the bellboy and the receptionist, both super polite and kind, we checked in and went to the room which was huge and super beautiful, with two balconies, too bad it wasn't to see the sea, but this gave me the strength to go and use the hotel's swimming pool which is on the ground floor and simply the view surprised me even more, beautiful view from the pool whether night or day, the hotel has two restaurants that are very refined and very beautiful including one of them is on the ground floor, on the other side of the pool with a beautiful view too, we had lunch in the first restaurant which is on the reception side and the food was super tasty and the waitress service was very good, who recommended me a chocolate dessert and dulce de leche that was simply surreal. The staff throughout the hotel always had a smile on their face and were kind, it was wonderful to always be received with hospitality, I will definitely go back and I highly recommend it.
The hotel also has parking for those traveling by car, like us, we left it in the care of Matheus and Lucas, who are hotel employees and are super kind.
Thank you to the entire team at Hotel Ba’ra for this unforgettable experience.❤️❤️❤️

I was there during the week of the turn, in a relatively large group, and the review includes the opinion of all guests.
I think it's important to start with the
Positive points: impeccable service, with a special embrace for our friends Diego, Marcus, Marcelo, Aninha and Ivanilson, who accompanied our stay in both restaurants of the hotel.
The food was also excellent, although the New Year's dinner had, in my opinion, a little messed up the kitchen: the breakfast the next day was "less good" than the other days. The dinner alone could be more varied, and better “preserved”, since the meat continued to cook in the heated pad, passing the point.
Another not-so-positive point was the cleaning, since, many times after we returned to the hotel, the floor of the room was bitter, much because of the way the floor is washed: the cleaner used is apparently not diluted, as we assumed talking between us. Another possible justification would be maresia.
Finally, a really negative point that I find difficult to solve is the location: we often had to make long trips to restaurants and attractions within the city boundaries (I think it's a common problem for hotels), and, more importantly, the hotel is located in a very frequent common area of the city (Cabo Blanco Beach), with New Year's party that not only practically made it impossible for guests to leave inside the hotel on the 31st, but also the loud sound until late at night. Such a factor can push away guests who are looking for a more relaxing experience amid the year-end movement, as was our case.
Despite the negative points presented, I would like to thank, on behalf of all who were with me, for the stay itself and for the hospitality.
Marco Finoti.

Excellent stay. From the reception, when we were welcomed with sparkling wine and a damp towel to clean our hands, the staff were extremely polite and friendly. The room is well equipped, comfortable bed, top quality linen, the curtains block out the light well, demonstrating total care for the guest's experience. The bathroom is large, with a comfortable shower area, and extra pool towels are already available. The restaurant is wonderful, a complete and diverse breakfast, with first-class items. The waiters are friendly and very helpful, offering what can be ordered on the menu, in addition to what was available on the buffet.
The pool is great, with a great view of the coast. The customer service there too.
The only mention of "difficulty" is with access by car, as the Waze entry shows the front of the hotel, which is closed to pedestrians and car access is through the back. Nothing that is complex to resolve.

This property was a major disappointment, despite their creative advertising on Instagram. We made the mistake of staying here for New Year's, expecting a great experience, but it turned out to be a disaster. The service was incredibly slow, even for just getting a drink in a nearly empty restaurant. They even tried to push us out of our table, claiming it was reserved for someone else, despite us having already paid a substantial amount to stay there. The rooms appeared old, with cheap stucco walls and uncomfortably hard beds. The amenities they offered were of poor quality. Room service took over two hours to arrive, and when it did, they got our order wrong. They promised to provide a free meal to make up for it, but we never received it. The New Year's dinner they advertised as a grand party turned out to have terrible food, and many other guests complained as well. The downstairs restaurant seemed to cater only to elderly guests, while the younger crowd was directed upstairs, but we had to pay an additional fee to access it. At checkout, we were shocked to find that the additional fee for our guest was double what the manager had initially told us. From start to finish, the whole experience was absolutely horrendous, except for a few kind staff members who acknowledged the hotel's shortcomings. There are much better hotels in the area, right on the beach, with fantastic food. If you're looking for a five-star experience, do your research and find one that surpasses this one (which is easy to do as their truly is only one 5 star in this town and it's not this one). Avoid this place at all costs, unless you enjoy misery, subpar food, and uncomfortable beds.
Rooms: The rooms are small and haphazardly constructed, lacking insulation, which results in audible noise from neighboring guests and passersby in the hallways. Additionally, the beds are extremely uncomfortable, and the water pressure is disappointingly low.
Food & drinks: Food is horrible but the bartender downstairs is amazing!
