Detailed Reviews

What I liked most was the leisure area. Amazing. With a heated pool facing the sea. There is the option of a jacuzzi next to the sauna.
The room facilities are new and very comfortable. The Split air conditioning is new and very quiet, as well as being well sized for the size of the room. Bedding set, new, very clean and diverse.
All bathrooms were impeccably clean with new sanitary ware and a working shower, which is rare.
The negative highlight was TV, as cable channels were not available. Which is very unpleasant since the Hotel's profile mentions the availability of cable channels.
The staff are very attentive and polite. Highlights include Itamar at the Pool Bar and Jaime at Restaurante Marea.
The breakfast is wonderful and you can order the following items to be prepared to order: Tapioca, Omelette, Crepioca, Curd Cheese and Fried Fried Egg.
The archaic system of asking for the name of the apartment to put in charge of the apartment is a big deal for dishonest people. One suggestion: do the same as the Rooftop system where the consumer bracelet has a number. This prevents dishonest people from reporting other people's "apartment" to avoid paying expenses.
Another option would be to have a multipurpose bracelet that can be used to open the apartment door and identify the apartment at the time of consumption, as is already done at Disney and other hotels in Brazil.
On Friday (29/03/2024) I ordered a shrimp snack with garlic and oil, but I practically didn't taste the garlic in the shrimp. In addition to the shrimp being served cold.
Also on Friday (03/29/2024) I tasted a wonderful cod fillet at the Marea restaurant.
On Friday (29/03/2024) I ate a wonderful combination of sushi 🍣 at the restaurant on the Rooftop of the Hotel. It's the best sushi in João Pessoa (PB).
Another thing that bothered me, most of the dishes are served with flowers. We have to keep picking the flowers in the food.
03/30/2024 at Dinner. At the Marea Restaurant, the Bife Ancho is not as thick as a Bife Ancho, which must be two fingers thick to allow the Steak to be served medium-rare.
The meat served didn't taste like anything and didn't even receive coarse salt in the preparation.
At breakfast on Easter Sunday (03/31/2024) all guests received complimentary Easter Eggs, another treat from the Hotel.
When I went to João Pessoa I used to stay at Praia de Manaíra, but now, without a doubt, I found my Hotel in João Pessoa is the Oceana Atlântico Hotel which is right on the sand at Bessa beach.
I strongly recommend.

Our first stay at this hotel, which despite having the location and good services from its staff, adds a value to its daily rates that is not worth it. I highlight that the rooms are very different and some cause more difficulty than comfort due to the size help us through all the initial difficulties, every day, for which we are very grateful. It is plentiful and well served, despite the fact that, when the set time closes, most of the items on offer are no longer available. The pool is reasonable for its size. Side access to the beach is good, chairs and umbrellas are also available, but the beach is dangerous just ahead. I recommend walking a few more meters to get rid of the rocks.

This hotel opened relatively recently (a little more than 2 years ago). Price-wise, this is an upscale hotel for Joao Pessoa (the least expensive room is about R$750 or $150 USD—the most expensive room is R$3170 or $638 USD). The problem is that it just isn't worth it. Just to put it in perspective, you can find hotel rooms in this city for 1/3 of the price that have rooms of comparable size and quality.
Let me say that almost all hotel staff are very friendly (but not all), but the level of service and attentiveness does not correlate with the level they purport to provide. The hotel has 185 rooms, so it's not a small place.
I came here with my wife to celebrate a wedding anniversary (I won't tell you how many so as not to shock you). Upon entering the reception area, we were offered a glass of water in cheap disposable plastic cups; I suppose this is better than nothing at all, but not by much.
Upon entering our room, we noted that the glass shower doors were not completely cleaned. I know it may be a pain in the ass for the chambermaid to get the soap scum off the glass, but for the price, I would expect at least that. In addition, the hotel has a sign in the lavatory that you cannot flush your toilet paper (!). Many hotels in the city have similar notices, but they do not charge as much as Oceana Atlantico Hotel charges. Since this hotel was recently built, you would think the hotel could have constructed a sanitary system that did not require you to keep your poopy paper in a trash can next to your toilet.
The most annoying thing that happened was when we went to have our breakfast (which, like in most Brazilian hotels, was included). The buffet was decent, but not even close to the best we have experienced here in this city. You might even say it was modest. Certain breakfast items are prepared to order, and you must order with the waiter—I know this because I went to the open kitchen and the cook said I must ask the waiter (and there was only one waiter in the room). The waiter was busy chit-chatting with other staff as I tried to get his attention. Finally, my wife approached him to request the breakfast dish I wanted and it took forever to be prepared (which is OK if the kitchen was busy), but then I saw him walking around with the plate from table to table with my dish, when he finally remembered our table and then came and chucked the plate in front of me. Of course, the dish was not prepared the way I requested, so I did not even eat it.
In summary, I cannot recommend this hotel and I do not think we will be returning, sad to say.

Response from Concierge Oceana, Guest Services / Front Office at Oceana Atlântico Hotel
Responded 4 Nov 2023
Dear Mr. Delfino, Thank you very much for evaluating us, your comments are fundamental to the process of continuous improvement of our hotel. We are sorry that the quality and service did not meet your expectations of our breakfast. We are very sorry that the country's sanitary hydraulic system works differently from countries in Europe and the United States. We also apologize because we do not serve American pancakes and maple syrup for our breakfast, we offer a varied breakfast with typical items from the northeast region. Like tapioca, omelettes, assorted eggs, crepiocas being freshly prepared. We hope you will give us another opportunity to offer you a truly incredible Oceana experience. Sincerely, Carol Fragoso Guest Relations

I booked 2 rooms for 3 nights over NYE 2022 at this property and paid close to $4k USD for the pleasure. The hotel furnishings, grounds, and support staff are great however that is where the compliments end. As this is currently the most expensive hotel in Joao Pessoa and for the NYE premium paid we expected alot more. The food situation and amenities are a joke with a management clearly looking to maximize their margins asap rather than want people to return again. For the NYE celebrations they served cold cuts, cheese, and bread for the meal. Breakfast as well was extremely basic with no room service or proper restaurant of any type on the property. This is Brazil and there was hardly any fruit to choose from which is clearly a massive oversight. On NYE in JP most restaurants close early so many guests like us were left shaking their head and scrambling last minute to order some decent food on NYE with no success. Free drinks for the celebration consisted of a couple cheap brands of beer and gin/tonic. Once again his is a fancy hotel in Brazil and I couldn't get a caiparinha after paying a $500 USD premium per night for this place!!!! Anyhow, we would never return to this hotel or recommend it to anyhow. Having a fancy looking hotel doesn't mean anything if you don't have any amenities available to make your guests feel comfortable.

I think the hotel offers a great cost benefit because it is a hotel on the sand, with large sunbeds and comfortable loungers, plus a great beach service, with well-cold drinks. In addition, the pools are very good, especially the thermal.
I found the hotel meal value above the expected for the other restaurants.
The hotel room is excellent: large, shower with strong shower, comfortable bed and powerful air conditioning! The cleaning was also satisfactory, maybe it could improve a bit in the cleaning of the windows, but nothing that would disrupt the cleaning work.
I requested late check-out courtesy and was kindly served.
Points that can improve:
The edges of the heated pool were marked. I find daily cleaning necessary so that it does not give the impression of dirt. The glasses that embellish the leisure area were opaque by dirt. I find daily cleaning necessary.
Breakfast and service are good, but I suggest providing more variety of fruits, cakes, chestnuts and cheese varieties. The ground meat and the dried meat were missing to complete with the cuscuz.
But it is definitely a good hotel for a holiday!

I was very well looked after, the hotel is very good, the rooms are comfortable even for a couple with 2 children, some days there was a DJ in the afternoon by the pool, but the windows and doors isolate the noise, you can sleep peacefully even with parties at the
hotel, many well-mannered and helpful staff and tofos! A great hotel for sure!
Top breakfast and always well received by Maria José, I want to go back!

Hotel right on the sand with excellent service and great accommodation. It has a very good rooftop bar and the leisure area is great.
The staff serve you with great care, especially José Carlos at reception, Dejacyr at the café and Hudson who works on the beach.
The room is great but as we were staying with three people it would need to have another closet because the closet has 2 doors. There are no places to hang bathing suits. The towel rack could also be bigger or have more places to hang towels. There is a moisturizing cream on the sink counter and there should be soap to wash your hands.
The bathroom is excellent and has a separate toilet from the shower and each has exhaust. However, the vessel exhaust was not working properly.
The hotel offers an afternoon coffee/snack which is a great idea.
The hotel is excellent and the things mentioned above are just suggestions for improvement but do not affect the quality of service in any way.

The structure of Oceana is impeccable, from architecture to decoration. And in fact it is in the sand. Among the experiences we had was an afternoon tea that was served in the Lobby and a happy, attentive and polite service from Ruth. Another experience is the use of the sauna and jacuzzi for an hour in complete privacy and after having been very well sanitized after use by another guest. And one detail, there is maintenance and smiling and attentive people to take care of everything from cleaning to turning on the sauna and programming the jacuzzi to turn off. In fact, you don't even need to open your umbrella in the pools or on the beach. Now, the Marea restaurant was a pleasant surprise, firstly because it has a printed menu and you can take your eyes off your cell phone screen during dinner. The menu is very varied and whatever your choice, you will be happy, we had experience with several starter, main and dessert dishes and in addition to food safety, the flavor and dedication of the Chefs and other kitchen assistants is felt on your taste buds. . The restaurant also has a beautiful wine list, don't forget to try the green wine from Portugal (white category) called Casal Mendes, whether on a hot night or during your time in the pool. The SPA is also worth a visit, as the girls are perfect. Just go and reserve a good period of time to enjoy Oceana in addition to the tours. You will not regret.

I was at this hotel in July 2023 and had an excellent 6-day stay.
Starting with the service, everyone is very friendly and attentive.
The cleaning service is impeccable.
It is a hotel with a new structure and many services, such as sauna, bar, hydro massage, kids area, heated pool, meeting room, gym, parking, beach service (with awning and towels), restaurant, cinema and even a spa with massage.
The breakfast is the best I've tried so far, it has a lot of options and everything is very tasty. They prepare omelette and tapioca to order too if you want and in the afternoon they offer a complimentary coffee with cakes and very good cheese bread.
I stayed in the side luxury room with balcony and the view of the beach is great, as there is no building next door. The room is not large, and we had to add a single bed, as it was me, wife and daughter.
You can opt for larger and more complete rooms, paying the difference, it's worth it.
The only thing to note is that this neighborhood of Bessa, where the hotel is located, has practically no shops. You will have to order things via app or travel to Tambaú, Cabo Branco or Manaíra to access restaurants, markets, bakeries, pharmacies...
In practice, this didn't bother me at all, because when I needed something I asked for ifood and during the day I was usually out walking.
If you don't care about a lot of hustle and bustle around the hotel, you can stay at Ocena without fear, they are great, without a doubt it is one of the best hotels not only in Paraíba, but also in the northeast.

Oceania é o bairro
Sim, a praia localizada em frente ao Oceana é considerada a melhor praia urbana na cidade de João pessoa. Carinhosamente apelidada com o nome "Caribessa" devido as aguas cristalinas e de temperaturas mais quentes.
