ACCESSIBILITY ISSUES: for breakfast and the pool you need to climb 16 steps, although the hotel has 2 elevators that go to the 3rd floor. This should be made explicit on the website. When I made my reservation, I made a note regarding restrictions on going up/down stairs [even though I am not in a wheelchair] and nothing was informed to me in advance. At reception, when checking in, I was informed that breakfast would be provided in my room and it was done. I am grateful for the attention of the kitchen staff and especially Dona Maria, who always served me with care and, although elderly, went down/up 16 steps during my stay, with a plentiful and varied tray for me. As for the leisure area [pool], unfortunately, I wasn't able to enjoy it.
I only thought that the pool area could open earlier and close a little later, opening hours being 9:30 and closing at 18:00.
Very old hotel, in need of urgent repairs in several locations.
Room full of gambiarra, air conditioning working, but extremely noisy (impacting on my quality of sleep), breakfast very simple, curtain smaller than the window, and our room was facing the street, plus shower taking too long to warm up, which generates a lot of waste of water. I'm not complaining, but I think it's important for the company to know what the current scenario is and look for improvements. The enterprise deserves better service so as not to lose territory to other hotels.
Personnel is helpful, although with little english knowledge.
There is a pool on the roof and breakfast is ok.
So far the positive points. The rest of the place is very old and urgently needs a brush up. Rooms are noisy and kept in seventies style with everything falling apart. Toilet and shower do work but look like public places. Wifi is a bit slow. There is, beside a fridge a noisy aircon and a TV, no further equipment in the room.
Generally I had the impression of a very cheap family hotel.
My third-floor room was nice in that it has windows on two sides (including one looking out at the beach), but the street noise was pretty loud, there was a window with no glass pane in the bathroom, the bathroom door was really beat up, the air conditioning did not do much so the room was pretty warm, and there were some other beat up parts of the room. I was glad upon checking in that my stay was only for one night. But on the positive side, it was clean and felt safe. My double room was reasonable size for one person, but would have been rather small for two (even a couple).
Additionally, no one at check-in or check out spoke any English, which made things difficult. I certainly do not recommend staying here if you do not speak Portuguese, as the people I dealt with did not try very hard to understand me. There also seemed to be cheaper places to stay that seemed fine (I paid R$177 for one night at Xenius), so if I visited Joao Pessoa again I would try a different hotel.
Hot shower, clean room every day, towels changed daily.
