We've been to Ouro Preto a couple of times and stayed at the Pousada Do Mondego for two nights for the first time. The inn is beautiful and well managed. However, the staff assigned us to a small room smack in front of a busy/bustling town square and we had trouble sleeping. The next morning we explained to the innkeeper...

The biggest problem here is the slow internet service. The owners should do something about this. They could put signal transmitters in each area of the hotel. That would be a big help. They could purchase more bandwidth. They could provide hardwire connections next to each transmitter. Other than the problems with the Wifi, the hotel is excellent. It is...

I am trying to be fair, so the good things first. The Pousada is in a great location, it's very clean, the service is nice and friendly, and everything in the room is in working order, BUT... We booked through a discount website and received an email that the Junior Suite (!) is available for an additional US$30 per night....

Yes, the bedrooms have low ceilings; the breakfast buffet is somewhat lacklustre and wi-fi only works in reception. To confess, I only came here because The Solar do Rosario was sold out. But I am glad I did. (Nothing wrong with that other hotel except that it is somewhat on the outskirts.) The Mondego is in a great location just...

If I could choose a word to describe my stay here, if would be: disappointment. If you stay there you will always receive less than expected. We arrived at the Pousada do Mondego and it was empty, since I've seen some complaints about an room with very low room and no window, yes, no window! I asked to not stay...

Visiting Ouro Preto is such a magical experience, but staying just in front of one of the Brazilian baroque master pieces is something bigger... a boutique hotel with a very warm service, almost like a bed and breakfast with a more luxurious ending.

Having seen reviews saying that rooms on the street were very noisy (which I can well understand) we chose one on the back - in fact on a small light-well. This had no curtains just shutters, and since there was no air conditioning we had to keep the shutters and windows open all night, so the dawn light woke us...

Location is very good. We had a room on the inside/back. Very nice decoration and a wooden stair down to double bed and bathroom. The bathroom was small with small ventilation hole and bad smell. Shower was positioned about 1.75 high so my bigger partner didn't need a showercap to keep his hair dry. Breakfast could be better for this...

I stayed in Mondego three times over the past 8 years. Despite all the qualities, the hotel has not received adequate maintenance and the good location turned to be more of curse as the central area got more crowded, more buses, earlier start. I will look some where else when in lovely Ouro Preto.

We stayed here for 5 nights while visiting Ouro Preto and the surrounding area. It has a wonderful old-world feel, perfectly fitting the historical ambience of Ouro Preto, with heavy period-pieces of furniture and genuinely nice artwork all over the place. Our rooms were attic rooms under the eaves, but very comfortable and clean. The location is right in front...
