I really enjoyed this hostel. Very nice people. Bathrooms always spotless. Family atmosphere. Almost all the guests are foreigners. Previous owner (who left a couple days after I arrived) swears nothing has ever been stolen. Good security with someone at the front desk at all times, opening the gate only for people who look worthy. By Brazilian standards, the beds... More

We stayed there two nights during the World Cup (June 21 & 22, 2014) and the owners gouged us viciously. This was the only room we could find on the internet when we booked accommodations in April and they charged us 960 Reals a night. This room was worth perhaps $20-30 but since the World Cup was going on and... More

Stayed here during the World Cup after our jungle tour. We were planning on just chilling for a few days before we left for Salvador. A few things to note. As stated before the water next the hostel is stagnant and breeds a lot of Mosquitoes! I'm an Australian and it's pretty bad! The first night we were eaten alive... More

I stayed here during the World Cup because hotels were too expensive. Even though the place was packed, the owners did a commendable job of looking after all the guests. They were literally available around the clock to answer questions and address concerns. The cleaning staff managed to keep up with us masses of stinky, sweaty dudes almost all of... More

Well, ok, it is world cup period. but spending almost 80 US$ for a dorm with 20 or more beds and no breakfast it is really incredible, never imagined to see something similar at it. Seen that, location is good

the good: the owners try really hard and the private rooms are nice. the bad: The 14 bed dorm has one tiny bathroom, with no AC from 8am to 6pm. Someone destroyed the bathroom twice while I was there and I wont elaborate.... Raw sewage floating in the river next door. Mosquitos everywhere! Their laundry service is just washing (not... More

Big Hostel Brasil had an incredibly hospitable staff. The family is present most of the time and they do everything they can to make your stay wonderful. They even did some of my laundry for free and moved me to a better room. Everything is modern and clean and there's plenty of places to relax and hang out as well.... More

Good welcome, clean hostel with large rooms. 24 hr reception, important if travelling on early morning boat trips. Wifi available but patchy service in some areas and in room. Manaus in general not known for fast wifi. Good shower but lukewarm at most, unfortunately air conditioning didn't work and had a very hot night. Top bed sheet not provided but... More

Perfect place! We did the reservation, without detail searchings for specific accommodation, but we have chosen one of the best hostels we've ever been to. This is very nice and cosy place lead by a brazilian family who are very hospitable and have a lot of tips what to do and how to do in Manaus. They spent three hours... More
