I booked two rooms at this location, one for our adult daughter and the second for my husband and I for the eve of our Maryland shore vacation. The check in went smoothly and was pleasant and we enjoyed time at the lounge before we left for dinner. At 1100 pm in our room, someone tried to enter our room through the adjoining door. We were awakened by noise and realized someone was trying to come in. Unfortunately, the door on our side was unlocked. The only reason they could not easily enter was my husband had his suitcase up against the door. We were able to push all our weight on the door and lock it as they forcibly tried to enter, my husband yelled at them and they stopped. We called the front desk and he had to repeat the story twice and asked for security to come to our room. Fifteen minutes had passed and no security. My husband called the front desk again to check on the status of security and no one answered the phone, There was not another attempt to enter the door and my husband witnessed the people in the next room leaving their room through the peephole. It was a scary event. Security never showed up. We were so thankful that we chose that room and it wasn't our daughter in the room alone. When we checked out the next morning, I shared the events with the front desk person who was taken back and called the manager on duty. She relayed the story to her. I could tell she was asking if we were asking for some type of compensation so I told her, we are not asking for anything just wanted to report it, primarily that security never showed up. i wanted to make sure they took our complaint as a credible one and not that we were trying to get something off the room. The person told me that the manager was "in our account" looking at the room and that it would be followed up on. My husband and family travel frequently and I have NEVER had anything like this happen before. I am very disappointed that Marriott did not reach out to us to apologize or follow up. I guess I told them I didn't want an accommodation so I should not expect any monetary compensation but I did expect some type of communication and apology. We were on the 9th floor in a corner room and it truly frightens me what could have happened. It was not a mistake as they kept pushing on the door trying to enter. I did not sleep well that night. Previously, I always have checked to make sure the adjoining room is locked if there is one but I didn't that night, but will always going forward. I wont be staying at a Renaissance again, and probably not a Marriott. Security should be their number one priority.…
I stayed here for one night. The aesthetic and ambiance is amazing. The hotel is beautiful and close to restaurants and shopping. Parking is available for a fee. Housekeeping needs training because the comforter had makeup. The sink in the bathroom had coffee or soda stains on the counter and in the skunk which means it wasn’t cleaned properly by housekeeping. Luckily I had disinfecting wipes with me and I wipe everything down when I arrive. Front desk was extremely pleasant. Valet needs a refresher as well as waiting at the desk for them to get your car was the norm. As long as housekeeping and valet issues are addressed promptly this is an ideal place to stay.
I stayed at and reviewed this hotel almost three years ago and have stayed several times since including early February 2022. Everything about the Renaissance Capital View is thoughtful from the welcoming and stylish lobby and ergonomic room design right down to the glassware, silverware, and plates at Socci's. As a Lifetime Platinum I have stayed a number of Marriott properties and this is consistently one of my favorites. They just do everything well. Big props to Tami for taking excellent care of me at check in - everything smooth and easy - and to the morning crew Veziga and Flor for their kindness and appreciation for my stay. The room was excellent - spit spot clean with everything needed to be comfortable. (One recommendation: To replace the small bottles with the in-shower dispenser of Tea Tree Shampoo and body wash found increasingly in Marriott properties). Socci's for breakfast was great. The well stocked buffet has been replaced by handcrafted breakfast entrees - I had the Chesapeake Eggs Benedict and oatmeal. Service was superb. Thank you, breakfast team! While I have stayed at a variety of properties in the DC area, this one continues to rank at the top and my go-to choice for attending events in DC.…
The Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel is a great looking hotel near DCA (Reagan National Airport). It is approximately six minutes away from the airport and it provides a sense of comfort as soon as you come to the lobby area. Within a ten-minute walk, you can actually reach major restaurants in 23rd street. We decided to book a room at this hotel due to the reviews and the self-parking package. This option is extremely convenient and less expensive, rather than paying the nightly fee of $33 or $37 approximately. One major disappointment from this stay is the lack of communication through the Marriott Bonvoy app. As a Titanium Elite member, I get to check in 48 hours in advance prior to the stay. During the chat conversation, the agent was not able to find the reservation, but with additional feedback and back and forward information, it was finally found. After my conversation with the agent online, the room was upgraded to a suite. In addition, there as promise to have this room blocked in the top floor in the chat. A day before the reservation, the room was downgraded to a regular room with a city view. No one could explain their rationale for doing this action. If you want to foment a sense of appreciation for your loyal members and maintain them coming back for future stays, please do not this to your loyal members. Also, a major disappointment is the lack of full hand sanitizer stations throughout the hotel. Even though these stations seem available to the naked eye, all of them were empty. During these challenging times, it would be great that your housekeeping team could provide a sense of safety to guests and maintain these full for anyone to use with no issues. I am not sure if I will return to the Renaissance Arlington Capital View Hotel in the near future, but hopefully these recommendations are taken into consideration to improve guest satisfaction, appreciation, and safety to future guests in your hotel.…
Stayed here the night before a flight. Hotel staff were very friendly and welcoming. Room was clean and quiet. The concierge lounge was well stocked and the parking lot was well lit and secure. The only complaint would be the fact that my flight was at 6 am and I would have liked to get a cup of coffee from the lounge before heading to the airport
I recently stayed at this property for 4 nights for meetings. I normally use Hilton products but stayed here for convenience. It was an excellent stay. My room was ready when I arrived. It was a nicely appointed corner room. Everything was clean and comfortable. The hotel has a bar and limited service restaurant. The catering during our meetings was excellent.....all of the food was very good. The fitness room is very well equipped for a hotel. I used it several times. All of the service staff were very nice and efficient. This is the first hotel that I've visited since the pandemic that provides housekeeping everyday without having to make special requests (guest may opt out by using the DND sign). This was a pleasant change. I highly recommend this property.
Good hotel, near DCA airport , approx a 5 minute taxi ride. Has a full service bar open until 11pm, a coffee shop opens in the morning. There is no inclusive breakfast being served at this hotel in May 2021. The rooms are nice and have good temperature controls.
This hotel is very convenient to eateries and shops and across the street from the airport. Not walking but driving distance. The hotel was very contemporary, clean, and friendly and attentive staff. The rooms were spacious and the room had a view of DC. Definitely will be back.
We are longtime Marriot members / customers. We usually stay next door at residence inn. We will always going forward. !! Issues were many... 1- couldn’t find our reservation. Looked for 10 minutes ! 2-asked for airport view. Got office Bldg/ street w/o view. 3-went to desk to address. They asked IF we’d like a different room. !! Really? They had to ask!! Yes. That’s what we asked for. So - Got new room - higher but not really airport. Faced Washington DC. Still not right. It’s not like they were busy. No compensation for troubles & issues. Stayed at a courtyard last nite - perfect!! What a shame to be a Marriott property. :(
This is a nice looking property. The beds ruin it though. I am in very good physical shape and my hips, back and neck are aching from two nights of trying to sleep on the rock hard mattress. Also, please do something about the limited menu in the cafe. It’s marginal, at best. Not worthy of a four star property. You can only blame COVID for so long.
