Hotel was clean and nice. A lifeguard is on duty at the pool so that was nice. Hot tub was broken :( you park in a garage separate from the hotel so don’t leave anything in the car! It’s a walk. The fridge in the room only works 2 hours at a time so if you’re asleep or gone….out of luck. This was a drawback for us traveling with a baby as we have to keep milk. Otherwise no complaints!
A decent, but aging property in a slightly off pitch location. My big complaint, I picked the place because of the Pentagon South moniker. When you're located 5+ miles from a site, is it fair to refer to that site in your name? We needed it for access to National Airport and it's 8 miles from there. It just strikes me as misleading at best. Pick any landmark in your city, would you name your location for that landmark if it was 5+miles away? Good news-the shuttle driver was terrific. Bad news- the hotel gave us completely wrong info as to where the pick-up spot was in DCA. And he was really sure of himself, but very wrong. The room was tired and the bed was terrible. I did like the desk clerk at check-in, pleasant and efficient.
I am a Bonvoy member and like Marriott but this property is a huge disappointment. Our room -- 515 -- was painted in dark colors and had minimal lighting. The TV is a 32 inch which is small for most hotels. When I sat on the bed I sank four to five inches into it as it was a VERY soft mattress and did not provide good support. Did not sleep well and woke up with a low back ache. The bathroom has NO ventilation so there are effect showing on the paint and wallpaper. The ice machine was broken. Definitely not what I am accustomed to with Marriott properties and other Courtyards.
When checking into our hotel we were told that the shuttle service was only available from 6:00am until 9:00pm. This information was not evident to me when I booked the room. Fortunately, our flight left at 10:30am so we were able to take the 6am shuttle unfortunately when I called for a shuttle at 8:50pm when we returned, I was told it was too late. In regards to the hotel itself - there were areas in the lobby near the elevator that looked worn and dirty. The room itself was ok, dark and dated. I would not stay here again and am very disappointed that the service that we believed was part of the deal, was not provided.
Great service, outdated hotel. Room was hot, beds were rickety, shower took a long time to get warm, tv had lines in it. Overall a clean and friendly hotel but not typical Marriott quality. The elevators are so small that if you hsve a luggage cart only 1 person from your family can fit in the elevator
The hotel was very conveniently located right off of I-395 In Alexandria. What made this hotel stand out was their excellent customer service. I was staying at the hotel for ~12 days.- The staff went outside of their way to make sure I felt at home.
I stayed here for about 2 nights for a senior trip. I had to sleep on the floor (didn't want to share beds with other students) but was pleasantly surprised by how clean the room was! The floor was spotless and countertops were also very clean. Unfortunately the outside noise was very noticable but it did not affect me as much as the next guy. While the room was clean, some items are plain outdated, such as the older TV with the broken remote, or the crooked outlets in the bathroom, etc. I was quite frustrated when I discovered the rooms have no microwave, and the only way you can use one is if you get fully dressed and use the one in the lobby. I used the lobby one only to get yelled at for having socks instead of shoes on. The room shower was too powerful, but at least there was quick hot water. Building itself is definitely older with worn elevators, dim lighting in the halls, and just general scrapes and dings that come with time. While we stayed here, the hotel was very silent, which could either be a good or bad thing to you. I could not say the same about our room neighbors, which continued to bang on the wall until about 4 am. Multiple noise complaints were made but to no avail. We had to to unplug the phone from the wall due to the excessive calling from them. The location is actually very convienient, all be not the safest. You have a CVS and 7-11 walking distance from the hotel. Really saved me when my phone cable broke mid-trip. I heard that homeless people gather around the hotel, or nearby, so I kept my distance while I was outside at night crossing to the CVS. Overall, if you can find a good deal on a room, I would reccommend it, but be advised the experience I had with my room may not be the same in another!…
I signed up for their shuttle service to the airport and back. Going to the airport was good it's the coming back was the problem. Our plane arrived at ten in the evening. They told us to call them when we arrived which I did. The lady at the front desk told me that there's no shuttle running after eight o'clock. I was furious. They know my schedule and others beforehand but they never informed us in the beginning when we signed up. There were other people in the same predicament as us. We all had taken a taxi and spent an extra $30 from the $100 they charge for the shuttle service. Courtyard you fail.
The good the staff is nice and the location is good. The bad the small bathroom & tv. I was uncomfortable all night due to outside noise, which I could hardly see outside and the mattress. I believe this place needs a remodel.
Pros: 1. Location—easy to get onto 395, 10 min to DCA, exxon, aldi, cvs steps away 2. Good water pressure, water gets hot fast 3. Parking garage Cons: 1. Service? Room never got cleaned or turned over despite asking front desk. Is there housekeeping? 2. Shady area after hours, i think the homeless gather near hotel outdoor area. Definitely not wise to walk about late at night 3. Can hear ambulance sirens all night long 4. Parking is $22/hour
