The location is outstanding--Metro is a 2 min. walk away. However....the carpet in our room was so dirty, I actually took a picture of the bottom of my feet, which were black just a few minutes after showering, to document it. The mattresses were horrendous. Hard as a rock. Not a "Hampton Bed" that they crow about at all. Not even close. Ours was a 2-bed room, and the beds were "double" not Queen. Very tiny. Water pressure in shower was lacking, and the parking was impossible to find and even more difficult to navigate. Pool was closed, and apparently has been for some time--which is NOT noted in the hotel listing and definitely needs to be. We endured because it was too complicated to move to a different hotel with 2 kids in tow for such a short stay, but would never stay again, and cannot recommend. We were very happy when it was time to check out.…
Well priced, well located. Convenient to shops and restaurants. Great breakfast. Well pleased with this hotel. You can easily get to the metro or walk along King Street. Parking spots in underground garage were a little tight.
The staff was attentive and friendly, breakfast was hot and tasty, fruit , and pastries, the hotel and room was clean and roomy. The bathtub need to be replaced or reconditioned. Overall it was a great stay for the value. The ice machine were not working and had to go to lobby to get ice . That be my only complaint
WE had a three night stay, visiting my son in DC. The King "suite" was a bit pretentious, and would not have otherwise booked it, but I got it for the same price as a King. The suite is a two room affair with a sitting room, which includes a sofa and awkwardly placed desk. The front desk ladies were so professional and personable. They knocked off the price of my parking because we called down three times because the TV wouldn't work (it was unplugged in the back, unreachable unless you knew the screen was a pullout from the wall. The breakfast was the best one on our two week trip.
The rooms were clean and well priced. The staff at the front desk especially Janet were kind, helpful and always asking how everything was. However the hotel does have a few flaws. 1. Pool - If you are not going to reopen your pool you need to do something with the space especially since you have rooms that look out to the pool. (Informed pool need extensive and expensive repairs and it was unknown if it would ever be done) 2. Housekeeping - The rooms were clean however at 8:00 AM on the day I checked out I woke up to a knocking at my door, It was housekeeping asking if I was ready for them to clean the room. Checkout was at 12:00 PM 3. Parts of Breakfast - The milk was sitting in a bowl… WARM…. Which was not safe to drink. When asking the man working breakfast if more omelets were available I revived a rude reply. 4. The mattress - This hotel needs to invest in new mattresses. Overall the stay was great and I would stay here again. The staff at the front desk were amazing!!…
We picked a room on the 2nd floor because the floor plan and signs said there was a pool. We later found out that the pool was permanently closed which was fine. We had to get moved because the air conditioning unit was leaking. It did not look like this was it’s first time of leaking. The main reason I gave a 4 was because of 2 things. 1. A housekeeper showed up at our door at 8AM asking if we were ready to checkout. Keep in mind checkout wasn’t until 12PM!! The other reason was the mattresses should be replaced. The first morning we were there the milk was NOT on ice.I would like to give a shout-out to Janet because she was very kind and helpful. I am not one to rush to a negative review.
I have found the Hampton Inns I have stayed at to be generally consistent in the things that are important to me: a comfortable bed, quiet hallways, a decent (if basic) breakfast, self-parking, a courteous staff, and good wifi connectivity. I’m sorry to say that the Hampton Inn Old Town Alexandria failed in half of these six areas. I was greeted by a very courteous employee at the main desk, and the bed was extremely comfortable. Due to this and the relative quiet (and a cooperative HVAC system), I actually got a very good night’s sleep. However, while the wifi worked in the dining room, up on the sixth floor it was useless. Furthermore, there is an elaborate sign in process, filled with self-promotion, etc. Why not a simple network name and password? The breakfast was disappointing: hard little French toast sticks (and no syrup to be found), semi-warm half dollar-sized “pork sausage,” and something called a “bagel topper” that looked like it came out of the supermarket frozen breakfast aisle. And then there was the underground parking. Yes, it was convenient not to have to pay for valet parking (Hampton charged “only” $20 per night), but escaping from my itty-bitty space without major body damage (in an averaged-sized vehicle) was a true miracle. Be sure to drive to Alexandria in the smallest vehicle possible!…
Great location - quick walk to Metro. Little over a mile to the waterfront. We walked there and back twice - lots of restaurants there and on the way. Breakfast was great every day. Bed was comfy. Room was clean and roomy enough. Staff was pleasant and helpful.
Clean room and friendly staff. They didn't give us a hassle about having 5 people in our room. Twin air mattress fit perfectly between the 2 beds. They also offer rollaway cots for a fee. The beds are full, not queen, but were comfortable. Breakfast was good with a lot of options to please everyone. Short walk to King Street station which is simple enough the kids were planning the routes by the end of the trip.
Second stay for one night one adult to teens. First day was about five years ago. The location can't be beat, right in the heart of Alexandria with all shops and restaurants. It's more like a boutique hotel. All staff was friendly and helpful. There is a parking garage and it is $20 a night but it's right below the hotel and one elevator accesses hotel and garage so it is very convenient. Please know the parking garage is extremely tight if you have a big vehicle it's probably not going to work. There is a complimentary breakfast in the morning that was very good. All rooms were updated and clean. There was an outdoor pool that wasn't open yet but will be nice in the summer. Prices seemed a bit high at $200 a night but I guess that's in line with the Alexandria Area. We will return and recommend.…
