Amazing rooms, amazing venue, amazing restaurant, amazing staff. Everyone here is wonderful and a special shout out to Philip and A young lady named Toy who is professional and wonderful. They make you feel welcome and they do an amazing job here. I will stay at the Lorien every time I come to DC. Love this place.
We had a lovely long weekend spent in Old Town Alexandria. This hotel is the perfect location to explore Old Town while remaining on the less crowded portion of King Street. Everyone at the Lorien was wonderful! Solomon at the front desk and Lisa the manager were especially attentive. We will definitely be back!
I love this beautiful hotel in this quaint little town. The service was great. Ashley at the front was very helpful. They even have bikes for the guests and in 10 minutes you’re on the bike path by the water. I Highly recommend this hotel. 10 stars
From the first warm greeting from Mark, the valet, to Solomon at the front desk, and every employee following, we were well treated at every turn. My husband and I will definitely stay here any time we are in the area. The small boutique hotel is located closer to the metro station than the waterfront, which for us was ideal. We spent our days touring the Smithsonian museums and our evenings eating and relaxing in Old Town Alexandria. The trolly took us to and from the waterfront area, if we were too tired to walk. We especially enjoyed the morning coffee service, the evening wine hour and the restaurant. But most importantly, the staff was wonderful!
I have been a loyal Lorien customer dating back several years. I travel frequently for business from the DFW area back to Alexandria/DC, and I have loved staying at the Lorien. But having stayed there again in May 2022, and June 2022, and now having another stay that begins tomorrow, I am frustrated by a couple of little things...and one big thing. First, the little things. Prior to the pandemic, when I stayed at the kimpton Lorien, service and rooms were top-notch. Every room I ever stayed in had a stocked mini-fridge, and a tray in the closet with snacks and other items. There was also a bathrobe in the closet. All of that is gone. Certainly, I understand during the pandemic that stays were down, cost-cutting was necessary, etc. I get all of that. BUT It's TIME TO GET OFF THE MAT and get back to a standard that is worth of the Lorien's prior reputation. Now the big thing. I, being a frequent traveler, did enjoy accruing points and benefits using IHG's loyalty program by staying at the Lorien. Just earlier tonight, I tried to update my account with missing stays from May and June of this year (my first back after the pandemic). No dice --= because, oh look, the Lorien is no longer a Kimpton hotel. So I stayed at the hotel for 7 nights in the past two months...and will accrue nothing for those nights, because the Lorien isn't a member of IHG anymore, nor has the hotel offered any alternative loyalty program to me when I've been there. Please, Lorien, as part of the "smooth transition", could you tell your customer -- be transparent -- that you're no longer part of the IHG family -- and tell us what you ARE part of? How we might leverage our stays to accrue some benefit?…
This hotel is very charming and is located right on the main street in Old Town Alexandria. Wonderful location, with a free trolley at the door to take you right to the riverfront. Lots of great restaurants nearby and unique shops all along King Street. We stayed in the Presidential Suite, which was lovely. However, although the large and private terrace was very welcome, it could use some sprucing up. The small shortcomings were more than compensated by 2 desk clerks, El Asri and Patricia. These 2 angels went out of their way every day to satisfy our every request. I have travelled extensively all over the world, but I must say that I have never encountered such excellent and caring service. They are to be truly commended!
Great hotel right in the best location near King Street in Old Town Alexandria. Kimpton hotels are always great and this hotel is no different. Stay for a night and had a great time. Bonus is the wine happy hours! Room was large and very well appointed, super modern! Recommend highly!
Excellent! The rooms are spacious and clean and TV has many, many channels. Free wine every night is also a bonus!!! Staff is very friendly and helpful and provide great recommendations for local dining.
On an individual basis, the staff at The Lorien were lovely and very friendly. There just weren't enough of them to provide adequate service. Upon check-in, there was no one at the front desk except an employee from housekeeping. He told me he was not qualified/allowed to check me into my room. Nor was there anyone at the valet area to park my car. I pulled further down and paid to park at the meter, then dragged my luggage back to the lobby. 30 minutes later, an appropriate staff member was able to check me in to my room. I told him I felt I should get free valet parking or something similar to make up for the sub-par check in at The Lorien. The staff member couldn't authorize this, but told me I could speak with the manager the following day. I did speak with the manager the next day. She was sympathetic after hearing about the night before, and promised to" take care of me." It was my fault for not specifically asking what she meant by this, but I hoped for a discount or comp of some sort. I did not ever receive one. The Lorien Terrace Suites are beautiful . However the furniture cushions on the room's terrace were discolored and very wet. If someone had stored the cushions in a covered area during the rain, I would have been able to enjoy the area. Though I dragged the cushions off the furniture and into the sunshine, they remained unusable until the last day. Additionally, there are no physical barriers between the patios. As such, I felt like an awkward party crasher during the small birthday party on the terrace next to mine (when the cushions were finally dry). Finally, the $25 a night "amenity fee" is ridiculous, as the amenities (daily water bottes, room service, spa steam room, bikes) were not available. You are allowed a visit from housekeeping on the third day of your stay, but when I called at noon, there was no one available to clean the room. I asked for fresh towels and a new duvet instead. The towels were delivered, as was a duvet cover( with no comforter inside of it). I made the bed myself, really unacceptable at this price point. Oh, and the toilet did not flush completely. I tried to fix it, but after lifting the tank and fixing the slack in the chain a few times, I asked for help from the front desk. Phew. My final recommendation: say elsewhere.…
Don’t recommend. They are no longer part of Kimpton and didn’t notify us prior to check-in. Our reservation and reminder email were sent form Kimpton, but when we tried to used Kimpton gift cards they told us they were bought by someone else and would no longer accept the gift cards. If that’s the case why weren’t we notified and why is it that all of our online confirmations say Kimpton? On top of that, we didn’t even have hot water in our room, which is apparently a known issue (see other recent reviews). We were really disappointed in the quality of service and room standards. After staying here many times in the past, they simply no longer live up to the high standards that brought us back. Responses from the front desk have been less than helpful, and the promised follow up from a manager hasn’t happened.…
