I must start with a glowing review of the staff at this property. Every person I’ve interacted with during the two of four nights has been incredibly friendly (housekeeping in the hallway, both front desk reps). They are the reason for the extra star added to what would’ve been a one star rating. This property is so disappointing. I thought I’d give it a chance since it’s in such a great neighborhood with a fair price — that should’ve been a little warning ;) Upon entering the first room, I was treated to various hairs in the bathtub - long... short... all of the lengths. Ew. The bed had a very noticeable bright blue ink stain across the top- great? I felt a little uneasy about the “enhanced clean” so I called down to the front desk and was moved five minutes later (so appreciative for the quick response on this). Room two - smells deeply of smoke. At this point, I’m tired after a six hour flight so I give up. The bathroom has a light on both side of the mirror - one light is completely out so I just use one side of the mirror. Don’t worry, the bathroom is lit up just enough for the ceiling dust bunnies to be seen in all their glory. I attempt to hang clothing (brave, considering the room smells of smoke) but thankfully the broken closet door prevented that from happening anyway. Clothing stayed in suitcase - wrinkle away. All fine. As I eventually tried to close my eyes, I listened to my neighbor (or... simply someone in the room...) have a looong conversation until after 1:00am. Word for word. This morning , I set up my laptop for some remote work, but before I do, I use my last disinfectant wipe to clean off the desk, which had sugar granules from the previous guest (even down to the seat where I planned to sit and work away). I curiously look at the Keurig to see if I might want to take a chance and brew a cup — covered in fingerprints as if it hasn’t been wiped down in some time. At this point, I know with absolute certainty that there was no “enhanced clean” given to these rooms— a borderline basic clean was given. I went downstairs to get some additional disinfectant wipes so I could try cleaning every high touch place that I, along with previous guests, may have touched Tonight, as I lay in bed still grossed out by this space, my neighbors (or... again, someone with access to the room since the front desk said no one is next door...) have lit up some weed and filled the hallways, my bathroom, and now my room with the smell of a freshly startled skunk. So much for smoke free hotel. All in all, it’s a discount hotel/ teetering the motel line. Be aware of what you’re paying for - sometimes a good deal is too good to be true. If cleanliness (especially during a pandemic), as well as clean air (and a room that doesn’t generally smell like cigarettes followed by weed), isn’t important to you, this is a great spot. Friendly staff, cute neighborhood. This was my first time ever staying at a Holiday Inn, and I will never stay at a Holiday Inn again. I thought with it being a part of IHG, it may have changed from the reputation i remember it having years ago... it hasn’t. I’ve already called down to cancel my remaining two nights, and I have no idea where I’ll be staying when I leave here tomorrow, but many places will be better than this.

Traveled during COVID. Suite was **superbly** cleaned, everything sparkled. Chose no housekeeping, asked for a few items, delivered immediately. Moustaffa & Juan perfect ambassadors! We were treated better than 5-star hotels we've stayed in. Juan drove us to the grocery store because we had driven 1,000+ miles and were exhausted. Housekeeping brought us towels and she was so very nice & sweet. So happy to support employees & hotel during Covid tough times. We'll return.

For all of those looking for all the modern conveniences this is probably not the hotel for you. However, if spotlessly clean, exemplary and courteous staff, comfortable rooms and pet friendly are what you are looking for in this area, I would definitely recommend staying here. If you're traveling with your pet, the whole area around this hotel is suitable for walking, and the tree lined streets are very safe; plus there are lots of locals walking their dogs in the area, so that gives you an idea as to how pet savvy Alexandria is. The room itself, like I said above, was not full of all the latest modern conveniences, but it did offer a Keurig for morning coffee if you did not want to go down to the lobby for the free coffee there (which by the way is extremely good for hotel coffee). The spacious bathroom was spotlessly clean and the water always hot. The room itself was large and well located; the bed just comfortable enough to make it hard to get up in the morning. My only suggestion to the hotel would be to provide a brown bag breakfast to cover the loss of the buffet, due to this dried pandemic. We'll definitely stay here again when in the area.

When we checked in we were never told to pick up our breakfast tickets at the desk each morning. We were never told how to exit the parking garage. You have to insert the ticket and press the call button then wait for the gate to go up. Once we had to wait about 5 minutes. The parking is $20 a night. Our first night was $260.. and another guest thought it was a playground for their child until 10 pm. The breakfast buffet was fair. The eggs were runny and the cook was li ate so we had to wait for the meat to cone out. Friday night on ou floor a group of kids, maybe ternagers, were left unattended. They ran the hallways knocking on doors etc. At 11PM and 2 calls to the desk a staff from "engineering came up to talk to them. Wondering if these were kids of hotel staff or something. The staff could have cared less about this. Co vid 19 came into play and the breakfast buffet disappeared. Instead tgey allowed you to order one breakfast from the menu and no extra sides etc. When the buffet was out there was fruits and pastries etc. Overall a bad experience.
