We stayed in the 25th and 26th and had a very nice stay. Breakfast was fantastic. Paula was most helpful in giving us directions to the VA Creeper Trail where we rented bicycles and road down the mountain to Damascus. It took us 3 1/2 hours, but was an experience we would do again.

In the spring of 2016, my wife and I were in Abingdon over a Friday - Sunday weekend for a play and bike ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail. We stayed at the River Garden for two nights. The room we ended up with was fine, but the first room we were shown had a strong musty odor. Unless you're...

I must first apologize for the delayed response to this review. We have been closed for personal reasons since June and I have neglected to keep up with reviews. Unfortunately I was unaware of this guest's discontent during his visit or I would have done my absolute best to rectify his dissatisfaction with The River Garden or happily found alternative...

I stayed at River Garden B&B with my husband and two kids (ages 9 and 11) for four days over Memorial Day Weekend. We rented the whole house because the owners were out of town for the weekend. I can't say enough good things about it. First, the setting and location are absolutely gorgeous, overlooking a picturesque river with views...

The River Garden B&B is located right on the river. Each room has a door to a covered deck where you can't help but relax listening to the sounds of the river and natural habitat. The bed was so comfortable that we really didn't want to get out of it, except for the anticipation of Paula's fantastic breakfasts. We were...

Imagine sitting on the deck looking right out at the river, listening to the birds sing. That's how it is at the River Garden B&B. The downstairs rooms have a private entrance from the deck and the deck has plenty of chairs for relaxing and river-watching. Paula's breakfast is scrumptious! Ham and egg cups, hash brown potatoes of the homemade...

We came to Abingdon to ride the Virginia Creeper Trail and visit the Barter Theater. Both were great, but the River Garden was the highlight of the trip. Heck, it's worth the price of the room just to eat the breakfasts. One day was a delicious frittata; the other was scrumptious ham and eggs. Not to mention hash brown potatoes,...

Stayed for four nights and enjoyed every minute. Paula an Scott were very welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts were delicious and there's always some wonderful baked goods to enjoy in the afternoon. We stayed in the Trail Rider room which was basic but very comfortable and the porch was wonderful being right on the river, very relaxing. They also took...

I have nothing negative to say about our 2 day stay in the Barter Room. Its quiet, well-appointed, & comfortable. Breakfast is a relaxed and delicious gourmet meal. The porch overlooking the stream is just outside the door making this a most peaceful & lovely retreat. The innkeepers are friendly and accommodating. Paula makes yummy homemade snacks available. I highly...
