Nestled in the heart of downtown Austin, the Hilton Austin garners praise for its prime location and modern, inviting atmosphere, with many guests appreciating the proximity to local attractions and convenience for convention-goers. While some travelers find the hotel's rates steep and have experienced unexpected fees, the amenities, including dining options and cleanliness, often receive commendations.
The service at Hilton Austin is generally lauded for staff attentiveness, although instances of slow service have been noted. Room experiences vary, with accolades for cleanliness and views, but some criticisms regarding dated decor and air conditioning issues.

Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
The hotel is very conveniently located to the convention center as well as many restaurants. Walking trails are also close by. The hotel has restaurant choices, and the pool and workout areas are very nice. The staff was helpful and courteous, especially James who checked me out. He was kind enough to give me a parking pass so I could exit the parking garage without delay. I would happily stay here again for business or pleasure .

We stayed at this property for a convention and were very impressed. It began with excellent front desk service for check in. The front staff informed us of all the benefits the hotel had to offer and then our room was located on the 20th floor up from the noise of the construction on street level. The room had a king size bed, a couch and a sitting table area with closet space and a large dresser which I appreciate. Each day housekeeping would freshen up the room and add to our towels in the bathroom and the room staff were very friendly and helpful. We asked a security person for a recommendation for dinner and he gave us an excellent choice for dining locally and within walking distance of the hotel. I would highly recommend this hotel for being very central and within walking distance of the state capitol, great restaurants, Austin City Limits and local musical venues.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveller reviews.
I booked at the Hilton for a single night before changing to a further out hotel as my group wanted to spend time in the downtown area so I booked here primarily for convenience, not necessarily value.
The location is solid, in the heart of downtown and close to many restaurants, but the location is curbed by its accessibility, particularly during night hours. When we arrived, there was a lot of construction/temporarily closed streets near and in the vicinity of the hotel, which made accessing it quite inconvenient.
The staff were all quite friendly, and were very proactive, which I viewed as a definite positive given the relatively hands off approach I received in the 4 star I had stayed at the previous two night in Dallas. In particular, I really appreciated that the valet was prepared to assist, but wasn't overly intrusive.
The rooms were decent, a bit on the small side but still fairly spacious. I noticed no obvious cleaning errors or any stains and such on any of the surfaces. The bed was comfortable and the pillows the same. I was very impressed at the selection of pillows, there were five of them each with a different firmness level. The bathroom, similar too the room, was a bit of a tight fit, but the cleanliness was again no issue.
Although this particular Hilton checked all of the boxes as far as cleanliness and service goes, the feel and quality of the room and the items of the room did not really indicate to me an upper class establishment. It's a respectable hotel, but it's not overly cheap, so I would definitely keep this in mind if you are considering booking here.

After a grim experience here in the height of the pandemic, I was pleased to see the restaurant and Starbucks have reopened. The hotel is still not operating at pre-pandemic service levels. I checked in late in the evening and the desk attendant did not acknowledge my Diamond status or convey any of the restaurant hours or my restaurant credit. It’s a small thing but it shows the lack of training for the staff not to recognize elite travelers. Only a few elevators were running which led to crowded, slow trips with poor ventilation. The room was stocked with only one bath towel for 2 guests, and I noticed no sleeve on the remote control demonstrating it had been sanitized (something the in-elevator video was touting to demonstrate cleanliness procedures at the hotel) The lobby restaurant is back open, but I would recommend a hand sanitizer dispenser and sign to encourage masks at the buffet. Parking is expensive (no valet on the weekend) and the lot is very dark, poorly marked, and half under construction. Finding a spot late at night was like entering Thunderdome. If I were traveling alone I would have felt very unsafe.
I hate to say it, but this might be my last stay after being a frequent guest for business and leisure for many years. I love the location and easy walk to Lady Bird Lake, but the lack of service and price just don’t make it worth it anymore.

We stayed 2 nights as part of a staycation in ATX. The spa & pool are excellent. Austin Taco Project restaurant is a must. Rooms are comfy w great views. Parking is always dicey in Austin so its 41 to valet.
The hotel placed us in room 2507 next to and below staff work spaces/eating areas. This was a nightmare for bedtime and morning sleep. If they try to give you this room DO NOT take it. The banging, chair dragging and 6am wake up both days was ridiculous for the price they charge each night. The hotel should not be using 2507 as a guest room and I'm sure this is not the first time they received a phone call begging them to make the noise stop.
My 6 yr old loved the entire experience especially the salt water pool and mostly slept through everything. Unfortunately, mommy didn't get to sleep in and is now more tired than before we staycationed.
The Crabtree & Evelyn will hopefully help keep me energized!

The rooms were spacious and clean. We stayed twice during the same week for travel. The room was stickered and sanitized, the remote wrapped up, cups sealed and covered. The room was clean, the beds were comfortable, reading lights built into the bedframe so one person could read if the other wanted to sleep. Contactless check in; and digital room keys as well. There is a starbucks in the lobby area as well as a bar. Service at the bar is great- the Starbucks was always a bit slow. In addition there is a beautiful rooftop pool that looks great at night, heated, and comfortable. Staff were helpful and friendly. Both stays were excellent.

Elevators made me super dizzy (and that’s never happened before).
We got an astonishing 2 towels, a lot of baby towels which didn’t do much.
Had to pay an extra $15 for “fast internet” when promotions and ads everywhere say free WiFi, you’d expect it to be fast already (I’m an impatient person when it comes to internet)
Location was great, right in the middle of downtown Austin.
Garage parking was so tight (I drove a larger truck) and even with my experience parking my truck, I still had issues trying to fit into a space. Almost made me want to use the valet service but didn’t want to risk someone else trying to park and accidentally hitting something.
When we arrived there were two front desk attendants, and one we over heard them being really nice and energetic, but when we tried to check in with the other, kind of got some type of attitude towards us, so with that from the start didn’t like the service we received.
Bathroom issues with flushing happened and draining in the shower took a while.

We had the pleasure of staying last Wednesday, Thursday and Friday – the hotel was beautifully and tastefully decorated.
Hector checked us in and remembered us throughout our stay. He is a GEM and I hope you move him up the ranks! There was a young-looking gray-haired bartender that served us twice. He had a way about him, as if he anticipated the next move…. He was aware of his surroundings in a charming way. Such a nice guy 😊
You have a HEATED pool!!! So when the rain finally stopped, we were able to take a dip and relax under your famous big, bright stars.
There is coffee (Starbucks) in the lobby so you can wake up and really get your day started!
We visited the area to see family but invited them to stay the night after we saw the accommodations. This hotel really made our trip to Austin one to remember – the ambience and the staff were just wonderful.
The only down side was that there were signs around the lobby for the ‘Austin Taco Project’ for which we couldn’t actually find.

I am disappointed with the customer service at the 4 star hotel. We arrived at the hotel and requested extra towels and cups for the room. We called front desk and housekeeping multiple times (1 call each hour for 3 hours) and did not receive any of the items. Upon leaving the hotel for dinner we stopped by the front desk and asked on the status of the request. The hotel staff indicated they had limited staff and will fulfill the request while we were at dinner. When we returned to our room (10pm), we still did not receive our items. We called the front desk and they indicated they were providing us the items immediately. We waited an hour and still nothing. The next morning upon leaving for breakfast we asked the front desk the status of the request, and the manager finally provided us the towels, but no cups. Too bad it was too late because we were checking out at noon. I had high expectations for the 4 star and it fell short. I hope they will place the service standards as a top priority for future guests because we will not be recommending the hotel chain.

I would avoid this location and look at a different hotel on the area. This hotel has misleading billIng practices and could charge or card maliciously. Calling Hilton can give you some assurance but they are having issues with this location responding and correcting their way of doing business. Save yourself a headache and stay elsewhere.
