We stayed here en route through the US when the hotel first opened back in 2010. We returned for one night because we had had a great experience back then. The hotel is still a comfortable spot to settle overnight at an affordable price. The good: We booked one king room, and a two queens room. The additional living room in each makes the rooms spacious. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are generally clean. The not-so-good: The decor is now dated, but not offensive. One room had a large, long gouge out of the wall desperate for repair. The other room had mould in the grout of the bathtub. We couldn't figure out how to control the air conditioning/heating unit. The room was too cold and the unit was too noisy, but none of the buttons responded and there appeared to be an error code on the scren. Breakfast is ok. Coffee comes from a machine that has three brewing selections of various strengths...none of which produce a good cup. I would stay here again. Until then, I think the management should do a sweep of the rooms and address whatever repairs need to be made.

Need to say up front this Comfort Suites is not in Altoona, it is a few miles east of the city, very much in the countryside. My Aunt lives about a mile away. My Father passed away on March 11, 2022, and his last wish was to go "home" His boyhood home is nearby Bellwood PA. A couple of weeks ago some 30 of us, his family, traveled from Western New York where dad had lived since 1953. We booked 8 rooms at the Comfort Suite. We needed a meeting room. I will admit I called a couple of times and spoke with Erica who put me in touch with Courtney the sales manager. Courtney could not get back to me for several legit reasons before I / we left so I was a bit uneasy about all the people who were on their way and the dozen or so more who might meet us there. We got there and the rooms were perfect. No one had any issues at all. The meeting room was there waiting for us on that Thursday night, (and Friday) again perfect. The breakfast both mornings was perfect. The pool temp was 89 degrees, perfect. The back "yard" where we sat and played the guitar and sang after Dad's funeral overlooking the view of the mountain where he grew up on Friday was perfect. I have stayed here several times before including last June when we brought my Uncle Paul's remains home from Korea after he was missing in action for 70 years. Everything at the Comfort was perfect then too. BUT I have to say thank you to the staff and especially to Courtney for making everything perfect for me and our family and by everything there being so perfect it made it a great memory for my dad's funeral.

Coming in off 5 hours on our motorcycles in a cold hard rain, we were desperate for a room and to get unwaterlogged. The hotel had just cleared out of three weekend weddings and even tho it was early for check in, the staff quickly readied a clean comfortable room. None of us were ever so happy to get to a hotel room. Great place and a great, accommodating staff! Thanks!

My wife and I stayed at Comfort Suites near Altoona for two nights and we were impressed by the hotel. We were there to visit family. The large elevator to fit our large packing & my wheelchair was convenient. The room was spacious, clean, & comfortable, with all the amenities we needed. The hotel is located off I99 in a quiet area. We woke up to the surrounding rolling hills from our window, a serene & relaxing sight that added to our experience. The free breakfast was just right for us. The staff was very friendly, helpful, & accommodating, especially the housekeepers who made sure we had everything we needed. As a person who uses a mechanical wheelchair, I appreciated the accessibility of the room and the hotel facilities. We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a relaxing, spacious hotel off I99 near Altoona. For wheelchair accessibility, it is underrated & deserves more recognition.

The reviews led me to believe this would be a good stay. We stayed 2 nights. Friday night was decent. It's a very easy on/off I-99 near Altoona, so it was convenient to the city. The check-in was easy and staff was friendly. The room "appeared" clean but.... I said the room appeared clean, but you'll have to look at just a few photos I took. The room had a funny smell I can't describe. It had a slightly musty smell but like they were trying to cover it with air fresheners or something. Anyway, Saturday was a completely different story. The room next door was occupied. The occupants had 2 dogs, so you can imagine the barking. We were awoken around midnight to someone next door pounding so loud, it was as if someone were jumping up and down with hammers banging something (floor, wall?). At one point the banging was so hard, it was rattling our entire room and shaking our bed. This continued for several minutes, not sure how the front desk could not have heard it. (We were on the 2nd floor, Rm 230). Oh, speaking of noise, the air conditioner in the room was gawd awful noisy. When it kicked on Friday night, we honestly looked out the window thinking a helicopter was landing in the field next to the hotel. Anyway, Saturday, the banging continues, I got up and looked out the peep hole in the door, there was a woman in the hallway, drunk off her ass and unable to handle all the beer bottles she was trying to carry. My wife took off downstairs for the desk clerk who followed her back up and heard the commotion for herself. The noise stopped just for a few minutes, but after the clerk left, it restarted along with non-stop barking of the dogs and eventually we learned there was a toddler next door as we could hear him crying and then talking to a male. Needless to say, Saturday night's stay was awful. As for the pictures, the bathroom door doesn't shut completely, there is about a 2" gap between the door and the frame so don't expect privacy. There is a crack in the floor, from the door to the toilet. Water damage, never came and fixed the paint. Stains on the sofa, needless to say, we didn't sit on the furniture. My bath towel was worn through. My photos show a lack of attention to detail and commitment to the guests that stay at this hotel. This is why so many budget hotels turn to crap after only a few years! On Sunday morning when checking out, we were never asked about our stay, my wife brought it up. It was never mentioned to the day time clerk about what went on overnight. We were told to expect a call from Mgt, here we are, a week to the day later, no call, email, text, nothing. Skip this hotel!

Very spacious room, updated furniture and bath, lots of choices for breakfast and despite a college baseball team staying there, very quiet at night. No restaurants right near by but very close to I99 and easy access. Comfortable beds give a good night’s sleep.

I don't often submit reviews, but I just had to for this hotel. True, we only stayed overnight, but we did not have a single complaint. The desk clerk was friendly, the breakfast clerk was friendly and the breakfast was good for the typical free breakfast. The place was very clean as was our room. The bed was comfy and the hot water was actually HOT and the cold was actually cold. The price was very pleasing. We will definitely make this our go to spot for the halfway point of a trip we make on an occasional basis.

We just checked in our room and found someone’s boxers by the window. When I called down all they said was that they will tell the manager did not move us or give us a refund or remove the persons boxers.
