Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The best hotel we had during our whole trip - and we had quite a lot of other good hotels. The owner Thomas is very helpful and he becomes to a friend of us. The food is amazing - well I don´t eat Thai food but my friends do. I always choosed the Italian food and this was soooooo good... Thomas can arrange easily very nice daytrips to several islands like TAJ EXOTICA or MEERU around Male. Also diving trips are no problems... if we come back one day to Maldives this will be our place to sleep... Thank you so much for everything! Sabrina and Martin We hope to see you again in our life!!!

Whole experience was faultless from start to finish. The owner Thomas emailed after booking was made to arrange collecting us from airport. As we didn't have our seaplane flight details he contacted the resort directly and found out for himself. We were met at the airport by a member of staff who escorted us on the ferry and then taxi to the hotel. We then met Thomas who was delightful. After a few hours exploring Male we returned for a delicious meal in the Thai restaurant on site. In the morning after a delicious breakfast we were once again escorted in the taxi and onto the ferry back to the airport.

This is a fabulous small boutique hotel in Male. It is like a small jewel of an oasis, just 5 min taxi then a 10 min boat ride to the airport. ($8 each way). Beautiful interiors, attentive and professional staff. Clean, modern, well appointed rooms with luxury bed linens and pillows. There are two restaurants, Thai and Italian. We stayed one night and the Thai food was the best I have ever had. I have visited Thailand for over a month and ate everywhere from fiv-star hotels to street food and the peppercorn noodles with shrimp and calamari was amazing. Spicy, tender seafood, just-right noodles, and generous portions. Now, all food is more expensive in Maldives, but it was on par with San Francisco or New York restaurants. We spent $80 for two ginger beers, a delicious apple

Background: My wife and I traveled to the Maldives on a dream trip with the plan to spend 9 nights at a resort followed by a few days in Male before heading back to reality (my wife leaving 2 days earlier than me to start a business trip). With so many resorts to choose from, we made our selection and started to look for a reasonably priced hotel in Male to stay for the second part of our adventure (not an easy task). Stumbling onto the Sala boutique hotel on booking.com and reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, I figured why not. The experience: Shortly after booking with booking.com, I was surprised to receive an email from the owner of the hotel (Thomas) confirming my booking and offering any assistance I may require. After inquiring about our flight itineraries in

We had a tough time finding a hotel in Male - they all seemed very basic or very expensive. Luckily we came across Sala which was perfectly placed in the middle! This was a transfer stay for one night at the end of our holiday. The staff showed extraordinary service and iniative by tracking us down in our other hotel and having someone waiting at airport to transfer us to sala hotel. Great rooms, big comfy bed and satellite tv. Two restaurants - italian and thai, we tried the italian and food was ok but nothing special. Easy to walk into town and have a little explore. If you have to stay in male, this is the place!

This is a real gem place in Male (which is not a particularly interesting and impressive city). The quality of hotel and especially the food in restaurant is top while the price is very fair. Thomas - the owner of the place, is of European (German) origin, who has lived and worked in the Asia-Pacific region for quite a long time. He is highly professional and pleasant person to communicate with. He knows his business very well and provides an excellent service with attention to details.

We stayed here for one night on our way to our resort in the Maldives, arriving into Male around 10pm. As others mentioned, we were totally blown away by the coordination of our travel. We were met by a hotel representative at the airport, who got us to the ferry to Male, then in a cab to the hotel, all of which he paid for. The hotel is a little oasis in the middle of Male, and Thomas, the owner, is an extremely nice and welcoming man. He was expecting us, met us when we arrived, and showed us to our room. We stayed in the standard room, and it was very adequate. I would recommend spending the extra $20 for the larger room, which we learned was almost double the size of the standard one (this was not evident to us from the photos on the website). The biggest negative to

We arrived Male at around 9pm and were picked up by the Sala staff to the hotel. Without much expectation, we were surprised how nice this boutique hotel is. Totally exceeded all our expectations! Thomas, the German owner, has definitely spent a great deal of time and effort in decorating this hotel and making sure everything is perfect! We were escorted to the room personally by Thomas which he went on in explaining every details of the very lovely room we gonna stay. oh and they even have organic shampoo and bath gel for use in the bathroom. Perfect! Thomas told us that the restaurant serves very good Thai food. Although it's very late at night and we normally dont eat this late, we decided to give it a try. We got no regrets for that. The Thai food was soooo authentic and

We stayed at Sala Boutique only for one night but it was great. This hotel is a little gem hidden away among the narrow streets of Male. After a long trip to Male this hotel is the perfect place to get you in the mood for relaxation, or to ease you back into normal life after your stay at a resort. the owner Thomas and his staff are wonderful and make you feel like part of their extended family from the moment you arrive. The rooms are new and are wonderfully decorated in keeping with the overall Thai theme of the hotel. You have all of the other amenities you need including free WiFi and cable TV etc. One other note: If you like Thai food then don't miss your chance to eat here - even if you choose to stay at a different hotel. The food is rich and authentic and is
