This is yet another unexpected and unplanned trip to Malaysia. Hence, this is also a last-minute booking. The main reason we stayed in this hotel is because my teen son wanted to visit the historical Petronas twin tower. We heard from friends that this hotel is the closest and can be seen in our hotel room. Unfortunately, our room view did not have that which was alright. I mean, we asked however, the hotel was fully booked and could not accommodate us. Understandable. Disappointed? Maybe but not a deal breaker. The hotel itself is impressive. They have a sky lobby which is situated in 36th floor. You can definitely see the Petronas while checking-in. Staff was all friendly, speaks English and very accommodating. Our room was in 35th floor and it was super nice, super clean, super comfy - with 2 twin bed (supposedly) but it's actually 2 double beds. The hotel also put that together in advance, so it really equaled to a one king size bed or bigger. Since there's 3 of us, 2 adults and a teen, we had a cot brought in for him, thinking the beds will be single and small (Asian size). Had we known, it was a double size, we'd be ok without the cot. However, our son was pleased he has his own bed. The room itself was nicely set up, like a small studio condo type. Aside from the beds, we have a lounging couch, a study/desk/office area and one side of the room was the bathroom. There's a separate bathroom with a tub and another for the shower, a small walk-in closet and separate room for the toilet. There's also a small sitting area by the bathroom side for make-up or vanity corner. For a family of 3 that's there only for 1 night/2 days, it's a lot of room space, really. The room had a mini bar and the price was reasonable. My teen got Milo chocolate drink twice. 10 ringgit each, that's approx $4.50us total for both. Water bottles are free. The hotel is situated just 10mins walk to the Pavillion, Museum of the Illusion and the Petronas Twin Tower. Really very convenient. Our stay included breakfast buffet and a happy hour snack at the lounge bar since we are World of Hyatt members. The "snacks" at their club lounge is well... dinner for us. They serve meat cuts like lamb and chicken, pastas, cold cuts, fruits, breads, cakes and etc. A real deal. The servers and staffs are friendly. Offered to even take pictures of us showing the Petronas in the background. The breakfast buffet was overwhelming but not in a bad way, just a lot to choose from. We were in hurry for our day tour, so we sampled a little of everything hurriedly. My teen enjoyed the pastries while I enjoyed the Chinese dim sum fare. My wife was excited to know they have a kambucha station and she enjoyed the Indian breakfast fare. Another extra special accommodation they provided for us was to give us a late check-out. Our flight back was not until 7pm. After the morning tour, we were exhausted from walking and from the heat. Since we were allowed to check-out at 4pm (which we are grateful); we were able to relax a bit before heading to the airport. We visited their poolside and Essa Spa - simple but with a relax ambiance. We had fun swimming, lounging and snacking for a couple of hours. Such a great R&R and such a special treat overall to stay here in Grand Hyatt Hotel. I will definitely stay here again when we visit KL, Malaysia again. …
