I stayed for 10 day sin Hotel Mikado in South Namba and it was such a good choice!! If you plan to stay here, make sure that you take note of the directions! I came from Kansai Airport and I took the train going to Namba Station. Get off at Shinimamiya Station and take the EAST EXIT! as you go out of the station, cross the street on the right side (stop light) and walk towards Family mart near the Police Station, the street in front of Family mart is the street of Hotel Mikado, it's about 3min walk and the hotel will be on your left side. OR you can get on the Osaka Metro (subway) and get off Dobuetsun-mae station and short street on your left will take you to Hotel Mikado Check In is way and fast, they will give you the wifi password, they will also explain about the facilities (shower, spa etc.). The 8th floor is for women only, I think this is also the floor for private rooms, there's a toilet there so as to save you from going on other floors to use the toilet. I have used the showers on the Ground Floor and it has never been busy. I like that the towels, robes, and everything else is very accessible at the ground floor, you don't have to ask for it. If you're staying for more than 3 days then the room can be cleaned, you just have to tell them. The hostel is very convenient when it comes to transport. JR lines and Subway are just an easy 2-5min walk depending on which you are taking. I had a JR pass for the first 5 days I was there, so I was using the main Shinimamiya station and switched on to the Dobuetsun-mae Subway line after that. There is a Mega Donki from the East Exit of Shinimamiya, turn left and cross on the traffic light and it's on the second floor of the building, you won't miss it since the big logo is there! I was on an evening flight going back to Manila, and the check out at Hotel Mikado is at 10am, but if you want to check out at 1pm, you will just pay 500yen but if you want to check out arnd 4pm, then u will have to pay the full day rate for the room, I did pay the 500yen because they have someone checking in already that day and they can't extend my check out time anymore, but you can leave your luggage there and come back for it when you're ready to go. I would highly recommend this hostel to anyone who wants a budget friendly accommodation. Sure, there's not a lot of space in the room, but if you're not bothered with that, then try staying here. There's a mini fridge and a small table inside the room, but no chair. I've never been a good sleeper but surprisingly was really able to sleep and relax here.…
If you need a place to stay in Osaka, Hotel Mikado is the place to be. Very budget friendly and the staff are super friendly as well. Let's face it, you don't really need to spend x-amount on a classy hotel when all you're going to need is a place to sleep, and Mikado overs just that. Peaceful sleep and recharge before exploring the city of Osaka all day. Stayed there twice already and we'll be staying there again if we ever go back to Osaka. Did we mention that they also have a spa (Onsen)?
...choosing this place. I stayed for six nights and couldn’t have done better: location is awesome; price a super value; spick and span; great, friendly staff willing to help out - I felt like moving in here. Hey these guys on the evening shift - Naoki and Taku (you too Mr Kan 😬) - they really made my stay just like I’m saying - too good. Helped me fixed my glasses when they broke (I’m blind 😵without them), advice on where to get things that I lost (my red dongle 😢), anything I asked! They never made me feel like I was interrupting them or bothering them in anyway. They speak English quite well by the way. Hey, my room was alright too. Even though I was only one, it had bunkbeds that were comfortable and large enough for me. I didn’t try out the Japanese style bathing room, but the showers were always clean when I used them. When I asked for another pillow, I got it. Seriously, I’ve traveled extensively, and I’ve never found a better place for the money than this.…
In situ sento, which makes it a nice after a long flight. There is an AM and PM schedule for ladies and gents. Most staff were friendly. Very clean facilities. Nice variety of teas and cooking facilities. The room is a bit too small.
Once again, Mikado proved to be the best place for me to enjoy Osaka. Certainly commended to other holiday makers as well as business travelers too - prior booking is highly recommended, especially for those intending to stay here during high seasons.
I wish I'd booked all my stay in the Osaka/Kyoto area at this place! First of all its conveniently located and fairly easy to find from the station. The staff at reception are all amazing! So polite, friendly and accommodating. They even let me check in early without extra fee so that I could take a nap after flying in overnight. The hotel had thought of everything, literally. Great WiFi, free tea and coffee, bicycles to rent, umbrellas to use in a rain shower, noodle pots in case you don't feel like going out (which you will do, because the hotel is close to one of the best and most fun areas in Osaka), cakes to have with your morning tea and shampoos and conditioners to use in the spa if you haven't brought your own. Yes my room was quite small but was plenty big enough for me and really comfortable with a memory foam pillow to rest my head on. There were hangars on hooks on the walls for hanging up clothes, a TV and a fridge, and a heating/cooling ac unit. The communal toilets and shower areas were immaculate and the spa was just an overwhelming joy of an experience before going to sleep. I am soooo disappointed that my stay was only for a night because I should have stayed here my whole time in Japan....!…
From the moment you walk in the staff at the desk makes you feel super comfortable. They are nice and polite, as the good Japanese tradition teaches. I had the chance to be in the newer annex, which it was astonishingly beautiful considering the supposed-to-be low budget hostel. Cleanness is noticeable everywhere, which also means that all the users are respectful and use common spaces properly. All the facilities are great, i really had a great stay. It is literally 50 seconds away from the metro, just perfect!
Check in was fast and room was clean. There are two dining lobby equied with chairs, tables and stove for light cooking. Hot tea and coffee provided. 2 computers with free Internet access. 1st level with suana and onsen. I don't know what more can I ask for! Totally worth it!
I have no complaints. It's very near Dobutsuen-mae MRT and JR Shin-imamiya stations. And there's so many sights around it to visit. The single room they gave me was nice, clean and slightly bigger. The amenities like the free spa (take note of the schedule for both men and women), toiletries and towels are just great! At the pantry, help yourself with free tea and coffee on 24/7 and you can bring in and reheat food from the outside. The staff is friendly and accommodating, they even received a package from Amazon for me. This will be my go-to hotel when visiting Osaka again in the future.
Hotel Mikado is just less than 10 min walk from JR Shinimamiya and about 5 min walk from Dobutsuen-mae metro station. Although the room is not too big, it is comfortable enough for two people to fit it. Everything is very clean and neat. We stayed at the annex building which is a newly renovated building with elevators and shower/toilet on each floors. It has open bath and spa on the ground floor, kitchen, washing machine/dryer, Internet speed is okay and also you can borrow the bicycle for free ! I like everything about this hotel especially the friendly staff. Highly recommended !
