The location is a gem. The service rendered - Excellent. Room rate - Value for money. Adjoining mall, 7-11, limousine bus counter and restaurants and McD, this is the perfect hotel for travellers. Special Compliment to Mr. Miyamoto, for making my stay a pleasant. Had some problem with my reservation with Booking.com. Made an online complain with no sign of any resolution. Miyamoto-san assured and resolved my complain effortless. Thank You Miyamoto-san.
We stayed here for 3 nights and found it very comfortable. The rooms were a decent size for Tokyo (one room with three beds was a bit cramped, but still enough space for all our bags). The breakfast was very good - mix of Western and local which was great. And the location was very convenient. There is a food court in the basement with a lot of choice and then two 7/11s very close and it is just across the road from the train station where there are loads of places to eat. We couldn’t fault our stay. Friendly staff, good food, comfortable beds and decent size rooms.
The room we got was very small, but clean. Prices were affordable. What really was not acceptable was the friendliness of the staff, which was entirely unlike anywhere else during our stay in Japan. Our brief interactions with the hotel reception and help desk were very unpleasant.
Hotel Keihan Kyoto Grande far exceeded our expectations. Through booking.com, we got a great rate on the Superior Twin Room B. We were lucky to be given the corner room on the top floor so we could look out on the Kyoto skyline and distant mountains. The room was clean. The bathroom was large, with a separate toilet room with a second sink (not sure that is the configuration of all Superior rooms). The staff were helpful and spoke good English. The location was excellent, right across the street from Kyoto Station. There is even an underground passageway from the station to the hotel, although the elevator from the underground passage to the hotel lobby is locked at night. The hotel is next to Aventi mall, which offers extensive food and shopping options, in addition to the extensive food and shopping options in the train station. This hotel cannot be beat for location. On the downside: although the room was very large, the beds were small - only 40 inches wide. Admittedly, the booking was labelled "twin" but I assumed that meant 2 beds. Looking closer at the website, it appears that the "double beds" they offer are 2 twin beds pushed together, and they do not offer the double bed configuration on the top floor. If you need a big bed, you should look elsewhere.…
The plus: The location is superb. Just across the street from the Kyoto station. The bus to Kansai airport is 10m from the Lobby. The Aventi food court with plenty of restaurants is next door. The room was big for Japanese hotels. The window has view and can even be slightly opened to enjoy the fresh air of Kyoto. The minus: The place looks like it was built in the 70’s and never renovate since. The carpet us old and green and still smells from smoking from those years. The WiFi is terribly slow. This is unacceptable these days and for the teenager with me this was a big NO NO for this hotel. No water bottle. When I booked in Booking.com nobody told me breakfast was not included. Bottom line- amazing location but staying here was like jumping in the time machine to 1975.... The WiFi is enough reason not to stay here.…
