The hotel is 10 min. walk from Kyoto station and is also in front of bus terminal, Kujo-Shako. It makes easier to move by bus. And a big shopping mall,AEON is near the hotel. The room is clean and big. The bath was new and clean too, but I wanted more amenity in the bath.
Dated hotel with very small rooms. Staff is unhelpful with little English. Location is great though with Kyoto station and bus close by. No tea or coffee in the room. You get what you pay for I suppose. Will not return.
Highly recommend the Green Rich Hotel, it is located only steps away from Kyoto station and has a bus stop right in front of the hotel. The onsen, is really well done and great after a long day of exploring. We stayed 4 nights, and could not have chosen a better hotel. There are many shops and restaurants around and even a shopping center for groceries. Had a great stay will be back on our next visit!
Located within easy walking distance of Kyoto interchange, this Hotel was a pleasant surprise. Immaculately clean throughout together with all facilities in Room meeting expectations. Just a couple of visits to the bathroom to get use to a considerably smaller area but all ammenities were where they needed to be. Although located on a busy Road the sound insulation was good with only a very small of traffic noise filtering into the room. The Hotel's Public Bathhouse was also a great experience and well-worth par-taking of. Would definitely stay again in the future.
Traveled w family & friend on 1st time trip to Kyoto Japan! Great experience! Thanks to TripAdvisor for good recommendation of Hotel Rich! Good location to restaurants baths train station and subwY! Highly recommend! Clean efficient courteous staff and reasonably priced! Rica on the half day tour was excellent! She waited for some if us who were slow! Spent extra time showing us the sights and very informative! Even got a picture of a young Mikko (young girl). James & friends!
We had an experience of two halves at Green Rich Hotel Kyoto. Our first encounter - friendly staff who was helpful and gave us great directions. The lobby lure you into a false sense of luxury and comfort - the lobby is spacious, modern, cool and airy. The room on our first night was the absolute opposite, small, cramp, smelly, musty, dusty, rubbish under the bed, very small hard bed with equally hard pillows. This room is only fit for a single traveler! The air conditioning unit didn’t work properly. The bed is pushed against the wall so the second person is blocked in. The bathroom looks like something out of a caravan. It was so hot I had to shower and use the toilet with the door open otherwise I would have passed out. We did not sleep at all the first night. This room was smaller than the room we had in Tokyo! No space for your luggage. The chair in the room was so big we had to push it against the door so that we could actually access the bed. The following morning after a terrible night of hardly any sleep, we went very early to reception to tell them about our incredible uncomfortable night. Our room was booked via a tour operator and we were meant to stay for four nights. We informed them we will only stay for three nights and requested if they can give us a room with at least two single beds instead. This didn’t go very well, we ended up having to pay more. Yes I am full aware that we had a nonrefundable room but they were not willing to even consider, she could see that my eyes were puffy, I was as white as a sheet and clearly had no rest, we did get a bit of a discount according to the receptionist but I was still not very happy to pay more for the duration of our stay to get two beds instead. I think they could have us e their discretion between in this case. She could see I was not trying to pull a fast one. I think this was a judgment error. We were moved to a larger room with two double beds. The mattress we hard again and the pillows equally hard, there are spare softer pillows in the corridor for you to use, which I appreciated. The bathroom was much nicer than the other and we did end up with a more comfortable stay for the remainder of our stay. BUT again the room was not clean, again dust and empty drinks bottles and food wrappers under the beds, clearly not been moved for a long time, the walls had splashes against it which in my opinion could easily be washed off with soap and water, it gave the room a overall dirty feel. The carpet was not hoovered as there were crumbs of some description on the carpet next to the bed. Location of the hotel - even though the hotel is only a 10 minute walk from Kyoto train station it’s quite far from everything else. There is a bus terminal just outside the hotel and conveniently the 205 will take you all the way to the Golden Pavilion. If you buy a ¥600 day is ticket you can comfortably travel around the city but it all takes time and when your traveling and want to fit as many sights in one day then a hotel closer to the centre, north side of Kyoto train station rather than Southern side as with the Green Rich, will be more convenient. The extra travel cost makes the location of this hotel poor value for money. The JR pass is not excepted on the Kyoto busses. …
I have stayed here with friends and also with my husband. It’s a 500m stroll from the Hachijo exit ( Shinkansen side) of Kyoto Station. It’s a fairly basic hotel but it has everything you need as a traveller. Washing facilities are on the ground floor, there’s a small onsen for both men and women and you can get a massage in house at their small spa space. Two doors along is a bicycle hire shop which was fantastic for riding all over town. The city is easy to cycle around and so much quicker than public transport. The hotel has basic amenities and they provide nice coffee sachets for the morning brew. Aeon Mall is a short walk back near the station and it has plenty of restaurants and a good supermarket. The restaurants near the Kintetsu part of the station are also fabulous and you could visit a new one every meal. Unless you want a big hotel experience, this will be my go to place. There is a breakfast area on site but I’ve never tried it. There are so many options around the station. Finally the bus interchange is right outside the door so you can just go right from the front door to many of the sites including Gion corner and Kiomizu Dera.…
Located in walking distance (10 minutes) from the Kyoto Station's Hachijo Exit. Otherwise this hotel is not in the vicinity of any major tourist sights in Kyoto. The room charge is reasonable according to local level, but be prepared to spend lots of time and/or money on walking or riding busses/taxis back and forth to the different sights. Our room was very small and would be better suited for one person only. For instance there was only one hook for a towel in the tiny bathroom. Housekeeping did not replace used teacups during our 5-day stay. In fact they left a note stating that they did not touch our things (?). The breakfast buffet was basic and uninspiring, mostly with cooked Asian food, white bread, two cereal options and no fresh fruit. On a positive note the staff was friendly and English speaking, and the wifi worked well.…
The hotel is ten minutes from Kyoto Station. The rooms are standard mid-range accommodation but the staff are excellent. They were really helpful during our stay. The breakfast buffet is plentiful and is a good mix of Japanese and western food.
This hotel is located to the south of the JR station, away from the hustle and bustle of the main station. If you prefer quiet and dark neighbourhood, this is it. It is one subway station away from the JR station, on foot would take 15 mins from the nearest station exit, quite weary for the tired travellers at the end of a hectic day. There is a bus station in front of the hotel providing links to a few sights. The public bath is the star of the hotel, excellent! Breakfast provides moderate but sufficient choices. There is one convenience store and a restaurant next door.
