Kyoto hotels are much more expensive than Osaka. We opted to save on lodgings (so wr can eat) hence we stayed here. It did it purpose; we slept ok but nothing else. Location was quite unstrategic. But to our surprise, amenities (yukata, towel, soap) are...More
The room is very small but this is normal Japanese standard. The futon beds were very clean and comfortable. The service was very bad thought. They did not clean the room and we had to ask for toilet paper.
We were very happy with our stay here. Everything felt safe and secure, and there were plenty of facilities available if you needed them such as kithcen, restaurant and laundry. The shower had incredible pressure! We really miss it haha.
It's a great location too....More

We stayed both here and in kawaramachi, and we like Inoi-no-ie better. It is still centrally located, and just about 10-15 mins walk to Kyoto Station (great weather!), but not so chaotic and busy. It is tucked in so you can get lost, but once...More

Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
