We stayed 2 nights here. Our room is a japanese style private room. There is a library outside our room, the surrounding is quiet, and the guesthouse is lovely. Ms. Kyoko is a helpful owner. Would recommend people to stay here.

The price was great as Kyoto is getting really expensive. Nice big shared kitchen for cooking. Bathrooms comfortable and clean. Would stay here again. although I would not opt for sleeping on the top bunk of bunk beds again at my age. .

The hostel, which is rather small, is clean and staff is helpful. You have a kitchen to cook your own stuff. Internet is good on the first floor. Found the curfew rather unusual (the guesthouse closes at 23h with no chance of entering later). Be prepared to bring your own towel (and be considered a guest only until checkout time).

We had a private room (western style) on the second (Am: first) floor. The room was perfect: great beds, well designed, plenty of space, balcony. The people are truly kind and extremely helpful, and speak English pretty well. The very kind older lady, Kyoko, seems to know even all bus departure times by heart... The guesthouse is located near the...

When i booked the bedroom, what matter the most was it was cheap as i need to stay in kyoto for 5 nights. My bet was good. Clean place. Clean toilet. Accessible to shops, convenient stores and bus stops. In kyoto - buses are the best way to get around. Helpful hosts and i met new friends.

I think it's easier to list down pros and cons so here goes: Pros: -Nice service, the receptionists speak good english. I especially liked Kyoko-san. -Good location, one bus away from Kyoto Station station as well as convenience stores, food areas, public hot bath (love the place, just ask the receptionist for sento), bike rental, public laundry areas, pachinko, etc...

the interior is pretty need, what i love the most of this little hostel is that it's clean and the private room that i stayed is spacious with comfortable futon mattress. the host was generally nice and there are a few restaurants nearby. it's a little bit off the central area of the city so it's a little too quiet...

I did a pretty extensive research for my stay in Kyoto with my boyfriend. This was my check-list: - Near to a metro station - Close to temples (although that is not very difficult to achieve in Kyoto) - Clean bathroom/room - Japanese style Ryokan type accommodation (tatami room) - Budget: under 150€ (180$)/night It sounds easy right? well, that...

We stayed here for 2 nights in May, 2014. What can I say, other than it was the best accommodation we've had in Japan, and even including Europe and other countries I've been too. It is exceptional. The location is amazing, the facilities are all brand new, the staff are warm and friendly, and the beds were outrageously comfortable. This...

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
