We had a one night trip in Kyoto and decided to stay in a hotel close by the station. The room is a bit small but good for the price. Convinient also since all taxi driver know the location right away. They have a public bath house, which is unique and open until pretty late at night.

This is a really good hotel for the price. The rooms are spacious for Japan. Breakfast was included for us and it was really good on both western and Japanese breakfast. The hotel is in a great location for accessing Kyoto station and sightseeing. It is not really walking distance to the gion. We caught the bus or a taxi...

Short distance from the Kyoto Station, take the south exit (or they call it the Hachijo East exit). Although most of the Kyoto attractions are on the north side of the station, This hotel is nice and quiet with windows that you can actually look out. Clean and comfortable, breakfast not included but is offered near the lobby or you...

It is not hard to find, but about 10 minutes walk with luggage. It is not the cheapest in the area but a comfortable option with onsen and breakfast was great with options. Choose this option because I was traveling with my mum and she enjoyed it.

Well priced hotel close to Kyoto railway station. Great spring board to all the delights of Kyoto. Great breakfast and very clean rooms of a reasonable size for Japan. Staff are very helpful. Many well priced restaurants within walking distance. Recommended.

This was a delightful find. Good value for money as it was a typical western room with proper bed. The room was spacious, the reception was warm and friendly and they were clean. We put the "eco friendly" sign out and they tidied up the place and put out fresh towels. There is no underground walk way to connect to...

Located less than 5 or 10 minutes walk on the south east of the Kyoto train station, where you will find many restaurants, shops, malls, all you need. The neighborhood is not the best in Kyoto, but the hotel it is. Comfortable beds, good size room, very polite staff, hot bath for free ( or public bath as the like...

This hotel was close enough to Kyoto station which made it easy enough to navigate ourselves to the various tourist attractions. The room itself was clean despite it being on the smaller side. The vending machines were very handy and convenient too.

The breakfast is good..Japanese style..because I stay 5 days I think it's need more variations..hotel is near from kyoto station, but in the quite environment. So it's rather difficult to find food near hotel..you must go to station area to find resto. I stayed with my husband n my son. My voucher hotel isn't include children, but I already ask...

We had to catch the bullet train very early next day and we booked the hotel nearby to the station. We had to walk about 7 minutes from the station. It is ok without luggage. We took a taxi to the station after checking out but the taxi fare is only the first metre so it was cheap. The best...

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
