We stayed four night there in end of January. The location is at Gion only minutes away from Yasaka shrine and directly opposite Chion-in. It is a convenience location to visit other attractions. Although it is beside the main road and may hear some vehicle...More
Stayed here for a night in Kyoto and was amazed by the level of help and friendliness of everyone working in this Ryokan. The rooms were very well equipped and comfortable and breakfast was very traditional and served with a smile.

We stayed (unfortunately) only one night at the riokan but it was a wonderful experience that I hope to repeat. The location is superbe, just at the begining of Gion, seconds away from the tea houses. The service was excellent, reception and other personnel very...More
My wife and I stayed at the Gion Fukuzumi for two nights. We opted for one of their traditional rooms, which had no bed. Instead, the room was cleared of furniture and futons were placed on the floor each night. I have to admit the...More

Try the traditional Japanese breakfast. The staff are really wonderful and friendly.

Gion is Kyoto's famed Geisha District (called "Geiko" in Kyoto). Though Gion's many tea houses and entertainment restaurants are closed to foreigners, Geiko and Maiko in their traditional makeup with gilded hair in full kimono can be seen drifting the streets on their way to and from work, where they fan dance, sing, and play instruments for customers. Gion lights up at night, when the ancient-looking streets
glow with lanterns along the river, where weeping willows catch the starlight and the air is warmed with conversation. Groups pass through to populate the restaurants and bars along the riverfront, but Gion still manages to be a mostly quiet district, due in large part to limited automotive traffic through many of its streets. Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's local and customary cuisines, and is best enjoyed after dark.
