The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. The onsen at the hotel is indeed gender separated. clothing is not allowed, nor are tattoos. Did not see any monitoring, but I must say that the hotel is pretty strict about customers following onsen ethics/rules.

We are flying into Narita airport 5pm Monday Oct 10. We will have rail pass. Is it possible to get to your location after clearing customs that late in the day? I am unfamiliar with how to navigate reservations, etc for Green JR Pass.
