The staff was very helpful but spoke no english. It seem to us the hotel was a base for large Japanese tours groups, not sure... but the lobby was a "shop" of souvenirs. We liked the touch of using a freshly pressed kimono during our...More

Northern Kyoto
Hot springs and historic temples characterize the
leafy landscapes of Northern Kyoto. Acres of tranquil
residential streets are interrupted by some of Kyoto's
most gorgeous architectural gems, including the
majestic Golden Pavilion of Kinkakuji, the serene
artistry of the Ryoanji Temple rock gardens, and the

Catch the number 8 bus from the train station. The bus trip will take you about 45-50 mins. There are no other public transport options. I would suggest a private transfer will be hugely expensive.
