Located straight across the road from Kyoto station this is very convenient and extremely easy to access from the station. The rooms were very well sized by Japanese standards and even by a westerns standard were reasonable for size. We were able to get interconnecting rooms which was not available in many other hotels. Breakfast has a more than adequate...

I stayed three night at premier floor twin room of this hotel. The hotel is very conveniently located just next to Kyoto station. There is a big mall just next to the hotel with a big supermarket. Lots of restaurants in Kyoto station opposite to the hotel. Room space is generous by Japan standard, very clean. No mini bar provided...

The location made it very convenient - we were with a tour group, so at the end of the day, there was plenty of food and shopping nearby. There is also a decent shopping center in the hotel basement. If you're traveling by yourself, you are right across the street from the Kyoto station. There are a few different restaurants,...

This was everything I could have asked for. Helpful staff, spacious room, centrally located, with shops and eateries nearby, including those in the train station right across the street, which I used to take daytrips. 100% updated and clean. Will most definitely return for my next Kyoto visit.

Situated directly opposite one if the entrances to Kyoto station this hotel is perfect for exploring the sites of Kyoto and the surrounding area (we did a day trip to Himeji and Hiroshima). Room was very spacious, which I had not been expecting, bed was large and comfy, bathroom spotlessly clean - great shower. Our rate didn't include breakfast but...

If you stay in this hotel, you can easily make day trips to Osaka and Hiroshima. You can also cover other places within that distance. Especially if you plan to go to Osaka, I prefer to stay in Kyoto. Sounds strange but in Osaka, you have to change a lot of trains to get to the city where your hotel...

I can recommend this hotel as it is right opposite of the central station. We booked a room as a package which included a train ticket with the Shinkansen Train from Tokyo to Kyoto and going back. The room was nice, very clean, comfortable and big enough. Our room was facing to the side and therefore it was quiet. The...

Good central location, 70's styling, tiny cabin style very clean bathroom, a bit of a squeeze for a six foot European, good shower pressure. Clean rooms but very hard & uncomfortable bed which made us both numb. Free wifi and a good speed, fast enough to watch YouTube which we had to while waiting for the typhoon to blow over....

This was the first time we explored Japan and the first time in Kyoto. We were looking for a modestly priced hotel that had good service and was close to the main train station. This hotel fit the bill. This place looks and feels like a hotel from the 1970's. The service from the staff was excellent. The concierge was...

Staying in Southern Kyoto

Neighbourhood Profile
Southern Kyoto
Southern Kyoto has a reserved air. Though the Fushimi Inari Shrine is one of Kyoto's major tourist attractions, the surrounding nature, parks, gardens, temples, and shrines provide less-visited spaces for strolling and reflection. The Fushimi Inari Shrine itself is made up of 32,000 sub-shrines, and the mountain they are dotted across beckons hikers, picnickers, and lovers of the outdoors. Many of the mountain's off-set paths aren't frequented by tourists, and the mountain's serenity can be enjoyed at a leisurely pace. Southern Kyoto is the place to enjoy being outside, and to pay your respects to the ancient architecture and gods of the land that are celebrated here.
