The communication was very easy and they gave us all instruction to reach the apartment fast from the station (only 15 minutes). The apartments are clean and have all what you need. We had a very good experience
Early April is peak Sakura viewing period in Kyoto and accomodation was very expensive. We were happy to pay less than A$100/night, plus 100¥/night bicycle rental. It's centrally located, very clean and quiet. Staff was responsive and helpful even though they are not onsite. Check in/out was easy. Washing machines, driers on roof top.
It was not easy to locate this apartment at first but with exploration and few questions, we finally got there. It turns out to be right beside Nishi Hongaji Temple. If you are walking from Kyoto station (yes, you can walk from there!), you have to walk towards Shiokoji Dori towards the temple's direction. Take the right at the main cross road traffic light intersection and walk straight. You will see a big arch leading to the temple but keep going until you see Lawsons. Take the right just before Lawsons and the apartment is on the left. The tricky bit is getting to the telephone at the top floor of the apartment. The staircase is really narrow so be careful when bringing your luggages upstairs. It is always good to wait first at the ground floor and one of you go up to use the telephone to contact the apartment's staffs. The top floor is where the laundry room is. You will then be guided to your apartment numbers (which is unlocked) and another staff will drop by the apartment to pass you the keys and let you sign a tenancy agreement for the rental. Be mindful about your rubbish and waste as Kyoto city has a strict rule in rubbish distribution and management. So, do divide your rubbish accordingly to plastics, paper, bottles and cans and other waste. The apartment, especially the bathroom/toilet is really small so it will be a bit of restriction in movement for bigger built and taller persons. But the mini kitchen is well equipped with a stove, kettle, toaster oven, cutleries, plates, bowls and cups. The double bed is just nice for 2 persons. The temple is underrated and not popularly shared by other visitors, but to me, it is definitely worth a visit and it is free entry! You can even take the bus no. 28 just outside of the temple to go to Arashimaya. Likewise, you can also take the same bus from Kyoto Station to this apartment. It stops right outside of Lawson from the opposite direction. Oh, it has cable internet and no wifi. Best to get a pocket wifi or internet simcard.…
20/4/2015 to 27/4/2015 Nice little apartment with tiny modular bathroom with bath and hot water, a/c, large fridge, single hob gas cooker, microwave, grill, rice cooker, kettle, vacuum cleaner, hair dryer, iron, TV (no English channels), table and two chairs, clothes rail and cupboards. Could have done with a bit more room for preparing food. Wired internet cable supplied for connecting a laptop but you will have to bring your own wifi box to connect tablets and phones. Very well located for bus stop and a small supermarket. Highly Recommended.
If you are on a tight budget, this is the place to come. Convenient location close to Nishihonganji temple (15 min walk or bus 9, 28 or 75 from railway station, or taxi about ¥650). Twin room was small but OK for a week. Not plush, and the corridor looks as though it belongs in a prison, but the room itself was reasonably clean and fine for the price. I've marked it only as average because I'm comparing it to a similar kind of place we stayed in Tokyo, and this was not as well thought out. In particular:- nowhere to drain dishes (owners - fix a draining basket above the sink, under the cupboard), and the sink is way to large leaving no room to put anything down next to the gas ring (resulting in a badly burned hand). Pillows lumpy and thin and beds very low - not a good place for anyone with a mobility impairment. Stairs very steep and narrow - large luggage not worn on your back would be a struggle (don't bother dragging it beyond the 1st floor until you know where your room is). Towels are not supplied, only a bath mat. Wired internet - you need a pocket router. But all that said, I'd still stay there again. Get bus day passes and route map from Lawson in the same block. For a cheap and decent sized supermarket try Super-matsumoto near Tanbaguchi station.…
From outside it seems to be nice and modern but inside it is dark, raw, unconfortable and very very dirty. The stairs very narrow... Impossible to bring up the luggages, dark colors and without maintenance. The room's door in iron makes you feel in a carcel and was noisy every time it opened. Frontdesk was a telephone in the laundry room to speak to the reception and laundry service was not efficient... Too much money to dry clothes! The room wasn't cleaned and we found many hairs of other people inside the bed. We met the owner only one time just to pay the room and then disappeared. The kitchen was very basic and dirty. The hot water was discountinuos and was very difficult to have a shower. In the wc the water running at all time and moisture presence. The curtain was opaque so everyone could see from outside. Fridge too noisy. A bad dream. Very bad value accommodation. One of the worst place we have been.…
This is not a hotel, but rather an apartment building where they rent rooms by the night. While located in central Kyoto and within walking distance of the train station, it is not super easy to find, so be sure you have a good map and a picture of the outside of the building will help. Also you need to make arrangements with the manager (whose English was excellent) via phone or email as to when you will arrive so he can meet you there. There is a phone right inside the door if you haven't done this in advance. Check-in and out times were pretty flexible. Our room was small, but comfortable and very clean. It had a very small bathroom and tiny bath/shower (towells NOT provided). There was a small kitchen with a fridge, a sink and one burner stove. There was a small TV in the room too. The beds were comfortable, and it is in a quiet neighborhood with a few restaurants. We stayed here because it was the busy season and there weren't a lot of options in our price range. I would definitely stay here again, especially if I wanted to cook.…
