We, too, weren't able to book directly through the hotel (website said all booked) however, were able to book through outside booking agency. Since I had identified this hotel as the best to stay for the price and location, I was pleased to find the outside agency. We booked the least expensive room which was more than adequate and, although...

We stayed here in April 2017 for a few nights during our visit to Kyoto and it was a wonderful experience. From the luxury of the lobby, to the quality of the breakfast, to the comfort of the room, to the friendliness of the staff, to the convenience of the location....I really can't imagine a "better bang for the buck"...

The location is quite good for both shopper and tourist. You can go wherever you want very easily. The service to rooms on premium floor is excellent: free capsule coffee machine, 1 cup of free wine in the bar...etc.They also can help to make reservation in my favorite restaurant. Goooood!! Will stay in this hotel when I visit Kyoto next...

Room was small-ish (as is all of Japan) but the location can't be beat. Walking distance to Gion, Nishiki Market, all of the temples. Really worth it to stay here. Great bars/restaurants just a block away on the river for a welcome respite to the masses at the attractions.

On a business trip to Tokyo, I decided to spend the weekend in Kyoto, and the Royal Park Hotel was perfect for a solo traveler. Great location near trains, walking distance to Gion district, lots of restaurant choices (even a convenient Starbucks if you need your fix!). Comfy room, cute bar in lobby for a nice glass of wine post-exploring....

Location is great in central, walk to many restaurents and sites and easy to catch buses to outlying areas. Friendly, helpful bilingual staff. Nice rooms and bathrooms providing the typical Japanese amenities including, slippers, robes toilitries, etc. Didn't use the restaurant or bar but they looked good, nobody in the bar and prices were probably a little high. Many eating...

My wife and I, visiting from London, stayed here from 25/04/17 checking out on 01/05/17. The location is really very good as the hotel is close to so much that you will need in Kyoto. Travelling to and from Kyoto Station is quite easy. Buses just round the corner cost 230 Yen one way to Kyoto Station and the Metro...

The stay here was a delight. Being on a tour we could not truely enjoy the experience to the fullest. The breakfast room/restaurant was extensive and found in the basement. The staff were very helpful. The uniqueness of the interior of the reception gives this hotel an aura.

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
