It is a hotel super close to Kyoto (train and bus) Station which just takes 4 minutes walk. I was amazed by the classic Japanese style decoration in the reception at first and the service of receptionist are friendly as well. They provided both Japanese and Western style breakfast choices. I love those dishes made by "Kyoto Vegetable", which I found it really tasty! The hot spring provided is good as well - you could get the availability of the hot spring by the TV in room and I found this feature very useful. It is not a budget hotel but a hotel with great location and good hardware. They provided free Ramen after the dinner time which you might have a try. Recommend for your Kyoto stay!
The cost of accommodation was little low due to the COVID-19 disaster, but the reception and cleanliness of the room were sufficient. The Onsen and the open-air bath were comfortable, the breakfast was good for Kyoto cuisine, and the free Yonaki-soba (special noodles) filled the hunger. I was satisfied with the access from the station about 5 minutes on foot. Recommended for those who want to enjoy the food and hot springs of Kyoto at reasonable prices.
Good service. Friendly staff. Have to mention the two chairs in the twin room are very hard with no support for the back. Could consider replacing these chairs, if possible. The washing machines and tumble driers facilities are very helpful if long staying guests.
The location of the Dormy Inn to Kyoto Station can't be beat! I am recuperating from a bum knee, so my mobility was limited while visiting Kyoto. While the rest of my family went to Hiroshima, Nara, and other day trips, I was able to enjoy the area closer to Kyoto Station. There were quite a few temples, castles, and shopping centers within easy walking distance. Each night, the hotel provides a nice, hot bowl of ramen in their dining area. The ramen is complementary and provides a wonderful snack at the end of a busy day. We opted for the 'no cleaning' service. This meant we didn't pay the cost to have our room cleaned every day. We were, however, able to swap towels and put our trash out every day. The laundry facility is in the ladies spa on the 9th floor (I'm guessing there was also a laundry facility in the men's spa, but I'm not sure on that). The hotel provided free laundry soap from Costco! The washing machine is free to use. The dryer costs 100 yen for 20 minutes. The ladies spa is locked. The front desk provides a code that can be entered into the keypad that is by the ladies spa door. The code is changed every day. The reason I didn't give the Dormy Inn a 5 out of 5 rating was because I felt the front desk staff was a tad bit..uppity. We stayed at the Dormy Inn for 9 days, so we got to talk to many of the staff members that worked the front desk. I can't say we were given the warmest of welcomes whenever we approached the front desk. However, the cleaning staff at the hotel were more than cordial and were very efficient. Also, the rooms at the hotel are extremely small compared to US standards. There was barely enough room for the bed, let alone suitcases. Upgrades are available if you want more room.…
The location is unbeatable, a two minute walk from Kyoto station, Kyoto Tower, and a central subway line to get to other neighborhoods and sights. The facility and staff were Five Star. The hot spring is unbelievable, not to mention the reasonably priced massages. Breakfast and dinner ramen are great (seemed like a traditional Japanese breakfast). I cannot say enough about the helpful staff, who helped translate and track down my missing luggage, and gave me great advice about exploring Kyoto. The staff epitomized the attentive, kind, and professional Japanese hospitality you hear so much about.
Short walk on flat ground to the railway station. Great selection at breakfast. Loved the complimentary noodle ramen from 9 pm prepared and served by a very friendly and helpful chef who spoke reasonable English. When we booked our room for 4 nights, it was described as "no cleaning". This was a unique first for us but worked out well for us. Towels and complimentary bottles of water were provided for all 4 nights, and it meant we could leave clothes and tourist leaflets in the room without needing to put things away before we went out. There is a small Lawson convenience store with access from the hotel reception. Very relaxing onsen on top floor. Washing machines and tumble driers are available on top floor. Having stayed at the Dormy Inn Kanazawa, and Hotel Intergate, Hiroshima where complimentary beer and wine were provided in addition to the ramen bowls, it was disappointing and surprising that no complimentary wine or beer is provided here. When I asked where the nearest bar was, the receptionist was unable to tell me. We made do with a few cans from the Lawson convenience store! The room was a bit small with the double bed pushed into the corner next to the window.…
We loved staying at Dormy Inns during our trip to Japan. The Kyoto location was convenient to the train with lots of dining options near by. The Lawson downstairs was very convenient too. We also LOVED the onsen at this location. The top floor open-air area felt private and relaxing.
I like staying at Dormy Inn hotels in Japan. I had been to the franchise hotel in Fukuoka, Nagasaki and Sendai. My recent visit in Kyoto branch marks my 4th experience to stay at Dormy Inn. I booked a double room this time. The room facilities are generally fine. I especially enjoy the hot spring on 9th floor: nice, clean and it offers an outdoor bath. In addition, the complimentary midnight noodles offer is a nice surprise. And the daily breakfast is truly worth for money!
This hotel is a five mins walk from the Kyoto Station to the hotel. There is a Lawson and a drug store downstairs the hotel. Hotel is clean and they offer free shoyu ramen every night from 9pm till 11pm and free drinks like hot/iced green tea, coffee or tea / water are offered throughout the day. The hotel comes with free onsen as well but I feel that it is not really a "natural" one as the smell of chlorine was strong but I would not complain since it's free and you just want to go for a quick dip in there to soothe the tired body from walking. I booked the rooms that are 23m2 and the space was good. Enough space to move around in the hotel. Just five mins from the hotel, there is a mall (starbucks, Uniqlo) a super market is all in the vicnity. We did not opt for the breakfast as it was a little pricey but the choices seemed fantastic! Overall, i would highly recommend this hotel as there are many restaurants in Kyoto station as well as on ground level from the hotel. …
The room is small. You are in Japan. All rooms are small. The people at the desk were very helpful. The breakfast was diverse and excellent. For an older western traveler, it was a great cultural experience staying in Ryokan. The room had a bed was that closer to the floor than normal but was not on the floor. The slippers, top, and pants were much appreciated. It was easy to relax here. The pillow is smaller than I was used to but I appreciated the experience. The bathroom in the room was great. There was a fancy Japanese toilet with all the buttons and heated seat. The shower was perfect. (I think it was a bathtub but I don't normally take a bath.) Everything worked perfectly. The Onsen was relaxing after long days of walking. It is gender segregated and as a bit of a modest person took a little courage to visit, but when I got there, everything was fine as everyone goes about their own business and you can feel comfortable. Soaking in the hot springs was very helpful on my sore muscles. I felt we could appreciate the culture better staying in this modern Ryokan but we were able to manage perfectly fine with our normal habits as well. It is very conveniently located, just kiddie-corner to the Kyoto Train Station, which is a destination in itself and offers a collection of very good restaurants and shopping area. Every morning, we could start from the Kyoto train station, which also has a subway stop (at least one). I was delighted with my hotel experience and would definitely recommend it to anyone.…
