This hotel is within sight of Kyoto Station and Kyoto Tower - just a few blocks away. The staff is very friendly and have a great command and understanding of English. My traveling companion and I had a room with two twin beds. The room...More
Very, very near to Kyoto train station, only 5 minutes walk to the hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful, they tried their best to explain about the Gion festival to us while we were there (this was helped by their foreign receptionist who...More
Very nice hotel! I came for a short vacation with a friend. We got the twin room and it's an okay size for us two with 2 carry-on (it would be tight with 2 big luggages). I like the different layout of the room. There...More
Good location in Kyoto. We enjoyed their free supper of Soba. Never made us down of Dormy Inn. Hot Spring was excellent as in other Dormy Inn. They got relaxing decorations and good control of hot spring. Breakfast was also good as expected of Dormy...More
Rooms are pretty small and not very nice. Views from the hotel are not worth it. Breakfast is somewhat average although there is a lot of choice. Very close to the station so easy to access. Has a free onsen at the top floor.
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and
with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
