Citadines is a little out of the major tourist areas of Kyoto, but this might suit some travellers. There are still very interesting sites within walking distance, although you will have to take the subway (station very close by) and buses for most sight seeing. A bonus is the you can walk to Kyoto central rail station. The apartments really...

Great location, right next to Gojo subway station. Room size is huge in japanese standards. Rooms were clean and well maintained throughout our stay. Wifi strength was very good and it was free of charge. Overall hugely recommended. Although bypass the breakfast, it really is quite poor and not worth the 500 yen :P

Excellent all round! Really convenient position approx 15 minute walk from Kyoto station. This is an apartment hotel and our room had a kitchen area attached to it which was really useful. The room was excellent, bright, modern, clean and quiet – it really added to our stay in Kyoto. Front desk staff was excellent – really helpful and friendly....

To start, the foyer to this place is lovely. I appreciate a hotel that puts effort into the entrance - the first place guests see. The staff were friendly and knowledgable, helped us bring our luggage to the room and advised us of top places to see. We had a twin room and the kitchen was excellent. A good size...

This is a good no-fills hotel. No restaurants in hotel. No gym. No pool. Carry your own bags to your room which I did not mind at all. Near subway stop. No far from Kyoto Station. Good size room. Clean. Would go back again if the price is right.

We stayed at this property during our recent Christmas vacation travel to Tokyo and Kyoto. We chose it for its positive reviews by other travelers and the availability of in-room kitchen amenities. We were not disappointed by the Citadines! We had three rooms for our family of 6. We arrived at Kyoto on the bullet train from Tokyo. Although it...

We were travelling with our 3 kids aged 6,8,10. I booked early and asked the hotel to give us rooms that were connected by an entry corridor. There was then one external door to the lift area. We had rooms 1005 and 1006. The rooms were clean, beds comfortable although the mattresses are very firm (like all Japanese hotels). Kids...

We spent 5 nights at the Citadines over the New Year period. It is a small, very clean hotel staffed by attentive people. It's location is generally fine for most tourist attractions - however if you have a lot of luggage and are unable to carry it up and down a lot of stairs, using the train to get there...

Last December2014, our family of 5 went on a holiday trip to Osaka / Kyoto in Japan and stayed in Citadines Gojo. The rooms were comfortably sized and made use of every available space efficiently! It didn't have the cramped feeling. Each room had its own kitchenette with the utensils and stuff all neatly in place. The staff was very...

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
