First Cabin Kyoto Karasuma's type of "simple lodging" (their own definition!) with certain concept, and i have to admitted that they're executed the concept pretty well. I had my cabin in 4th florr which was the same floor with receptionist and other major facilities (shower, lavatory --> they separated it in different area cluster/different rooms). My room were very clean,...

Staying in First Cabin Kyoto was an interesting experience! The location was not premium as it is 2 stops away from the main Kyoto station, but it is merely a minute walk from the subway. Stayed in the first class cabin and didn't felt claustrophobic mainly due to the normal height ceiling. It was comfortable sleeping in their cabin, though...

The first class cabin is like a very fancy hostel. Its an excellent location just a few meters from the Shijo subway stop and walking distance to the main shopping area, with the Nishiki Markets and Gion district not to far away either. I stayed in the First class cabin which is a good size. Single bed with a lockable...

This hotel has great deals if you book through a website. We managed to get 50% discount all three nights we stayed. We tried business and first class cabins and there's only a little difference, so go for business if you're tight on cash (which you're bound to be in Kyoto). The rooms are really clean with a safe to...

Very well kept. Staff was helpful. Wash rooms were very clean. Also came with slippers to wear and a polyester outfit lol. May be a little difficult to find as it is in the same building with a cosmetics store on bottom level.

Staying in Shimogyo-ku

Neighbourhood Profile
Shimogyo-ku
Shimogyo-ku is centered around the busy train hub, Kyoto Station. A nexus for commerce, shopping, dining, and hotels, the Shimogyo-ku area is infused with tourists and local business travelers, making it a competitive location for ever-new commercial structures. The shops and cafes here are chic and trendy, as a result, with many recognizable chains. Commuters flood the Shimogyo-ku area twice a day, and with Kyoto Station itself being a modern mega-complex and an architectural marvel, this neighborhood is one of the most contemporary and energetic areas that the city has to offer. Buildings here look futuristic, and huge department stores, shopping arcades, and public meeting spaces provide every possible convenience. It is also nearly the only place in Kyoto where rooftop dining and socializing is available, completing its modern tone.
