I stayed at Mume again after several years away. It is still as wonderful as I remember. The rooms are so beautifully decorated, with great facilities, and the location is perfect; about 5 minutes walk from Gion. But the thing that sets this hotel head and shoulders above other hotels is the level of service. I have been fortunate to stay in some top class hotels over the years but the service at Mume is second to none. The staff go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need including wonderful suggestions for dinner and drinks. I know there are travel restrictions at the moment to enter Japan but if you are lucky enough to be in Japan already take advantage of the quieter situation in Kyoto and spend some time at Mume. You’ll have a fantastic time. I know I’m going back again soon.

This is our second visit to Hotel Mume and it didn't disappoint. It was like seeing our long life friends or family. As soon as the taxi arrived we were greeted with such genuine warmth. We were given the Flower Room which was beautiful and had ample space. Breakfast each morning was outstanding and filling. We love the staff take care of our dinner reservations for us and even give us a detail map showing where each place is. The staff also very informative with places to see and do and will give you great detail of how to get there. We will come back to Kyoto and stay here as it is such a lovely place and the Gion area is beautiful.

We had a fantastic stay at Hotel Mume and would highly recommend to others. The hotel has beautiful rooms and bar, the breakfasts were delicious and the service from the hotel Mume team was fantastic. They went well out their way to ensure we had a fantastic stay in the city with recommendations and restaurant bookings and even helped us book a difficult to book restaurant in Tokyo for the next leg of our trip. We would definitely stay again if returning to Kyoto.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Mume, Kyoto. Beds were comfortable. The staff were exceptional friendly and helpful. The owner was always there to greet the guests in the evening. We really enjoyed healthy homemade breakfast every morning. The homemade croissants were as good as the ones from finest boulangerie in Paris. In fact, Hotel Mume is a true example of excellent hospitality.

We are currently staying at hotel Mume after coming from Tokyo Park Hyatt and we are enjoying hotel Mume more than the Park Hyatt! The service is exceptional. I have celiac and they have gone above and beyond to help with restaurant reservations and directions for each place we want to visit. They also made gluten free cookies and bread from scratch with different types of bread each morning. The entire breakfast is outstanding! The ladies who work here are the most friendly people in the world!!

Beautiful little hotel in one of the most charming areas of Kyoto. Our room was comfortable and beds very restful. However this hotel is all about service. If you are a first time visitor to Kyoto this hotel is for you. The women at front desk will help you plan and explain every final detail including photos of how to find things easily. It helped us had a successful stay and made our days getting around so much more fun. Yes you need to tell them breakfast times in advance but that is because they prepare everything specifically for you and hot breads come out fresh. Coffee to the room any time you want was a very nice touch and my husband enjoyed happy hour free drinks too. Thank you Mume hotel we had a fantastic time in Kyoto because of your help and kindness

We were so well looked after, we really didn’t want to leave. Super room, wonderful staff, lovely breakfast, excellent location....we were sent an email with Japanese instructions for our cab driver from the station, recommendations on places to eat, and felt generally thoroughly pampered. Loved it!

To stay at the Hotel Mume is so much more than a hotel stay.....it is an unforgettable experience. From the moment the red door opens you are treated as old friends for whom it seems nothing is too much trouble. The passion for their job and the care and attention of each and every staff member is extraordinary. We could not have been looked after better. It was a pleasure to come "home" to them each day. Thank you girls and Sotoro. Your many kindnesses touched our hearts.
