I lost my luggage on the Shinkansen when I was traveling from Nagoya to Kyoto. I wanted to make a police report but was worried that I may not be able to communicate with the police as I cant speak Japanese. The front office lady Ando assisted to translate 4 pages of English text to Japanese so I can bring it to the police station. Thanks for the excellent service!
The hotel is super clean, staff have very basic knowledge of English and this is something that should be worked. No matter how they are trying the language barrier is evident and probably a minus, that’s why I was not able to get a proper indication for a good restaurant ( which i found by myself). Position is great ( bus stop close and easy to acces main attractions )and value for money is ok ( a small onsen would increase their bills and customer satisfaction).
This hotel is an absolute pleasure. It's a relatively new 5-floor building set in a mainly residential area of Kyoto. We had booked the largest room on the floor containing 3 wide and very comfortable beds. All fittings and furniture are crisp and clean and the bathroom, whilst compact, is well finished with a separate WC and shower room. Whilst the hotel is about 15-20 minutes walk from the Gion downtown area its immediate vicinity has a plentiful supply of excellent restaurants, coffee shops, patisseries and sophisticated small retailers. We loved the location among the one-way grid where none of the traffic moves fast as you wander the narrow streets and alleys. Close by is a district of the town which is totally non-smoking. For travelling further afield bus stops and train stations are a short walk away. The hotel provides breakfast which can be either Japanese or Western. Our only complaint was that they try too hard to provide a Western menu which we found sickly and over-complex. We were perfectly satisfied with the buffet of cereals, toast, pastries, fresh fruit and fresh coffee. We paid for both but ended up eating only the Buffet. The staff are delightful and exceptionally helpful throughout our 4-night stay. A great hotel which we would thoroughly recommend to anyone visiting Kyoto. …
Stay for 3 nights in a standard room. Was pleasantly surprised upon entering, as the staff always serve with a smile, and treat guests with high regard. Quiet place with facilities which are simple and well-maintained. Was also very proactive and helpful when we had to leave our luggage at the hotel after checkout. Really exceeded expectations as we went to Tokyo and Osaka before arriving at Kyoto, but did not receive such treatment at previous hotels. Its a 3 storey building which is blocked on both sides, so don't expect any views. My room window was facing a wall, which meant I could see nothing, but got a quiet room in return (no noise from the road).
We stayed here for five nights to explore Kyoto, it was a quiet and very comfortable place to stay, we had breakfast which was a choice of Japanese or western each day. This was the cheapest and best hotel we stayed in on our trip around Japan. Loved this place!
