We spent 6 nights in this amazing home, using it as a base to visit nearby Nara and Osaka. The location is perfect, in Gion where you will find much of what you come to Kyoto for. This is a 100 year old traditional Japanese home. I can’t think of a better place to stay. The experience was enhanced by...

I traveled as a solo female traveler to Kyoto during July 2014 staying for 9 nights, and was looking for an experience that would help me understand something of what life in kyoto is like. I was also researching Japanese aesthetics. When I discovered an opportunity to rent an affordable apartment in a regular Kyoto neighborhood that just happened to...

This was the second time I visited Kyoto and stayed at Salon Haragushi Tenseian, this time with my 20 year old daughter. We stayed 4 days in this wonderful house of Haragushi-San, an old famous potter. And again he gave us worthwhile advises what to visit, where to eat and where to go for shopping and looking for good Kyoto...

Stayed in both the apartment in town and at the house at the back of the park. Both great value and positions.Easy to get to any part of Kyoto, especially loved the house at the back of the park, very quiet and relaxing and only a 15 min. walk down through a beautiful park to the main street and buses...

We stayed at the Kiyomizu Tenseian apartment, not the main property. Recommended for families or groups of friends during non-winter months. Location (7/10): + Near Kiyomizu temple + Easy to get buses to Gion and other attractions. + Off the main street so not noisy. - Off the main street so can be a little hard to find. - Not...

Thank you Haraguchi for this wonderful week. We really enjoyed staying both in haraguchi's appartment and house. Ideally located, very clean. And on the top of it an incredible host; Haraguchu came everyday to recommend us nice restaurants and places. He booked for us the best kaiseki dinner you could have in a very charming restaurant. Last but not least...

S taying at Salon Haraguchi was fantastic. The environment couldn't be better. Staying in a 100 year old traditional house was a privilege.Mr Haraguchi was a generous and best host, making maps for us to find the best eating places & not very expensive. He also took us to lots of tourist places. Gion is a great location with lots...

I have to come here and make a recommendation for this B&B inn of Kyoto (Kiyomizu Tenseian). I just ended my holidays in Japan with my family. Although I have read the high rating of this place, Kiyomizu Tenseian is still beyond my expectation. The advises on tour & food, the treating from the host are the real gems of...

I have to agree with all the positive reviews here! To sum it up: it's like having your own home away from home in a form of an apartment above Mr Takushi's pottery workshop and with the best hosts possible. We stayed for two nights in Kiyomizu Tenseian. First of all: booking -- I emailed to inquire about Salon Haraguchi;...

Staying 5 nights in Salon Haraguchi Tenseian at the peak of cherry blossom season (with markets and hanami parties just a few hundred metres away) was unforgettable. The location right by Gion and the northern and southern temple areas of Higashiyama was perfect. We made good use of the bikes at the house to explore the Philosopher's Path and surrounds....
