Great location, staff friendly and very very helpful with making reservations at restaurants, giving directions and forwarding on our luggage to Tokyo. Our room was lovely, spacious and well serviced, extra toiletries were a nice touch. Enjoyed the large bath and comfortable beds. Only thing lacking is breakfast availability, you can order it in the day before which helps. Staff happy to do so.
Wonderful small boutique hotel, quiet yet close to much of the action and near the gion district. Spacious room with western beds. Modern, new, and quiet rooms. Didn't have any real common spaces. We had breakfast at a cafe down the block.
We have booked a 13-day, once-in-a-lifetime trip to Japan with our 2-kids. Very unluckily, we’ve learned one day before departing that typhoon Hagidis was to landfall at the same day we were arriving in the country. Our flight was cancelled and the next one was planned 4 days later. With all this uncertainty, and 1/3 of our trip wiped out, we decided to cancel it, only to plan for a later date, in April 2020, as this was my kid’s dream trip. Of the 4-hotels we had booked in the country, Alza Hotel in Kyoto was the only one that didn’t accept to postpone our reservation to April, and kept the full amount of our money (it was booked on internet). With that spirit we can only say that greed and lack of commercial tact and human touch, are the two only impressions left on us by this hotel. It will be blacklisted on our next trip, and forever...…
We just got this hotel and found this air conditioning filter and machine is a full of dust. And dirts.. I’ve started having a slight sore throw after one night but we have to stay here another 5days... will update more later...
Great hotel, very modern and well appointed in a great area of Gion, just off the busiest sections. About 2 miles from main train station and a couple blocks from the subway station, right on the river. Many restaurants in easy walking distance (try Gion Tanto) and about 1/2 mile from Nishiki market area. Rooms are spacious, with many very modern amenities. No restaurant in the hotel so breakfast is a bit of a box lunch type served in your room. Adequate but likely better to go out to one of the many restaurants nearby. Staff is very attentive and responsive and able to assist with travel as well as recommendations nearby. Highly recommend.
