We spent 2 nights here ,the hotels had our rooms ready and payment can be made by Card on checkout.it is reasonablely priced and the fact that you can reserve a room with a private toilet and bath. They have separate men/women communal baths (onsen) which are traditional and part of the ryokan experience,No breakfast or dinner is available ,this... More

We really enjoyed our 3-day staying in this ryokan the price is justified by a very high quality service The rooms are big, comfy and clean In the B1F you can find the japanese-style bath, where you can relax after a tyring day in Kyoto. I will surely came back next time i'll come back to Japan

Pros: Old japansk hotel Ok daily cleaning Cons: Very old and dirty rooms (pls see pictures). In short rooms need renovation. You sleep on the floor, think twice before you think it could be fun to try. We all slept terrible. Strange blanket and small pillow. Front desk was not helpful and could not speak english would not order a... More

My draw to this place was the reasonable price and the fact that you can reserve a room with a private toilet and bath. They have separate men/women communal baths (onsen) which are traditional and part of the ryokan experience, but not everyone in my family was comfortable enough to use it. The rooms and facilities were very clean and... More

We stayed two nights with breakfast. First morning, breakfast was served in a large room with chairs. The following day, breakfast was served in a large tatami room where we had to sit on the tatami and fold our legs. It was a bit difficult. Food was abundant but was cooked some time before, so it was cold and hard.... More

We got there before the 3pm check in taking a taxi from Kyoto station on JR. The large taxi cost about 3030 yen. It's located on a little side street. Using your GPS will help navigate. Front desk personnel have limited English but are very nice. We left our luggage in the lobby while we went out to explore. They... More

My partner and I were there during peak cherry blossom period, so hotel prices in Kyoto were high. We had a wonderful time, the meals were amazing , yes Japanese food at its best, yes lots of food and wonderful service. The hotel was central for the bus to the bamboo forest and 500 metres to the train to Gion.... More

After 5 nights here we are definitely not fans of Japanese bedding, but otherwise this was a good ryokan. Staff very sweet and friendly - not usually a problem making yourself understood with lots of smiling, sign language and a few words! It's not great value for money, but nowhere half decent in Kyoto is. Our room was big enough,... More

So it took a while to find a Ryokan that wouldn't kill my pocket but that it was still of good enough standard. Other ryokans I researched looked a lot more fancy and posh, but if you're just looking for a normal traditional ryokan without bling this is perfect. It's literally as if your friend has left you his/her place... More

I stayed at the ryokan for 4 days with my friends at hanami season in April. The people were nice and helpful, even their english is sometimes not really great, but hey, we are in Kyoto! The place was clean and all the time we've back from our day-trips the futons were already prepared for us. The onsen was also... More

Staying in City Center

Neighbourhood Profile
City Center
No district of Kyoto is quite as representative of its blended nature as the City Center. By day, the covered shopping arcades along Kawaramachi and Shijo Street bring deal hunters and fashionistas out in droves to peruse the clothing, accessories, gifts, and home goods offerings. When it grows dark, the City Center is a hip spot for nightlife, alive with bars and clubs. A trendy culinary scene and an abundance of local watering holes give the Center its youthful vibrancy. In contrast, the quieter areas of the City Center seem a world away, shielded from noise by the foliage of the public gardens and zen spaces surrounding the area's shrines, castles, and the Imperial Palace. These ancient and sacred spots are seamlessly folded into the scenery, providing a respite from the energy of the city, but close enough to put you directly back onto the pulse of the city when you're ready.
