Be warned that it is a very long travel going to this place. It may take you an hour or two to get here specially when you're planning to take bus and train. Good thing the path from ohara station to this onsen is breath taking. You can see the rural scenery of japan in this area. The place on...

Yumoto Onsen OharaSansou is a place to be outside the tourist hordes of Kyoto and to visit the interesting temples in the (rural) Ohara area. Is not a place to visit Kyoto as you need one hour bus ride and 20' walk to reach the ryokan. Our room (with futons) was not small as claimed in some reviews. The food...

Had a wonderful time during our 1 night stay. Food was good. Bath was really good experience. The walk around the area was really nice too. The room was rather basic Japanese style but its OK. eception at the Ohara bus station, you need to put in many coins, otherwise its not enough & you wont even get a dial...

This place was awesome. You can ask to be picked up at the bus stop. We arrived in the afternoon after an her bus ride. Beautiful country side and welcoming people, we had a great dinner. Bath and rooms were wonderful. We had a room with extra futons so we doubled them up, since it was self serve. We liked...

Rooms are Japanese style and we stayed 2 nights including dinner and breakfast. They provided us with English instructions on how to use most things at the Onsen so everything was very easy to understand and it was particularly quiet there during our stay which gave us ample opportunity to learn what to do at our own pace without getting...

We stayed at this ryokan for 2 nights. It is located in a peaceful and beautiful rural town 1 hr north from Kyoto. The room was simple but cosy for us. The heater worked very well and they provided a tea set that was replenished in the morning. The onsen is spacious and clean. We were able to make 4...

The town Ohara itself is quite and very relaxing area. It is very easy to go with bus from kyoto. This ryokan was my first ryokan experience, and everything was just perfect. Here are why. 1. The place is totally affordable compare to other ryokans. I guess the only thing you don't get from this place other than other ryokans...

As foreigners, a visit to a Japanese onsen is a must, and we were quite excited and nervous as well. Despite reading as much as we could about the do's and dont's, we still weren't sure if we will 'fit in'. But, Ohara Sanso made us feel very welcomed and comfortable. There's so much foreigners there I think it is...

This is my first experience to stay in a Japanese onsen. I love it so much! Quiet and peaceful surrounding. We walked from Ohara bus station and clear direction along the way. Will definitely recommend to my friends.

What a wonderful surprise... we loved our stay at this traditional Japanese inn! The highlights of the Ohara Sanso are, in our opinion, its location in a quiet and serene valley outside of the the Kyoto big city bustle, as well as the food that was provided (breakfast and dinner). The room was basic, but adequate and clean. Traditional Japanese...
